What comes to mind is that the ball level could essentially cover the grounds of several tools - traditional levels and protractors in some cases.

I cannot think of any disadvantages inherent of this design - can you guys? I suppose we'll see once people start buying these up and reviewing them online.

One thing that disappoints me, however - the promo video says "...from CH Hanson, a Great American Tool Company..." But the level is made in China...

Awesome concept for my use. I'll be buying one of these soon, for certain. I have to do a fair amount of laying tile floor, and being able to level in both directions simultaneously is a plus (I use little "bullet" levels now but they're a pain as they only cover one inch...put three of them on a single tile and you can have three disagreeing readings!!). Thanks for showcasing this item.

I confess I'm one of those guys who does not find reading bubbles to be fast and error free. I usually have to squint at them awhile before taking a read. This large ball would be welcome!!

I saw one in person last Wednesday.One of my supplier reps. had one with him.I thought it looked well made and it felt like a quality tool.He told me there are several "new" tool designs they are coming out with.The bubble was very easy to read!

Thanks for the comments, guys! Bolster, after reading your post on TG, I did a little more searching and found that the level is now available at Lowes.com. Maybe it'll be on sale soon, timed with the Father's Day shopping rush.

It is available in Lowe's stores now (at least mine). It caught my eye earlier this week and I went over to take a look at one. Interesting design.

Stopped by Lowes yesterday to check out the ratcheting screwdriver deal (didn't care for it) and saw the ball level. I thought the line was a little hard to see and felt reading 2 axis at the same time would be confusing. Now I have little experience using a level or building stuff so I probably can't see the benefit.

It did look well made. I wonder if that much percision will drive perfectionists crazy trying to get the ball level all the way around.

It looks like a good idea but they could suspend it in a fluid that would dampen the movement some.

On second thought would not the angle dependent on the width of the level only be accurate for the 1" or 2" where it sits? Even if you are laying tile you still need to turn it 90 degrees to match up the next tile. I can see it's use as an angle gauge but only along it's length. Am I missing something?
