Last week I finally got around to finishing the floor in my garage. The concrete is only 6 months old, so it is in very good condition. When it was poured I had it trouled to a very smooth finish. I installed a 10 mil moisture barrier prior to pouring the concrete. I did not have the resources to shot blast the surface so I did the prep with UCoatIt's heavy duty degreaser and muriatic acid (I did the acid treatment 4 times and scrubbed till my shoulders and arms started to cramp). The UCoatIt system I installed is the medium blue color with the deco UFlek-AF and clear topcoat.

Overall (after the floor preparation) application was easy. Broadcasting the deco flek on the floor took some effort to make it look even. Although I was trying to be careful, I still wound up with a few light and heavy areas. Overall I think it looks pretty good.

The directions state you can park you car on it after 48 hours, and it is fully cured (hardened) in 7 to 10 days. I think I am going to be patient and wait at least 4 days before I use it.

Looks great! (the floor and the 427)

Did you use any anti-slip in the final coat?

Could you possibly use a Scotts hand held fertilizer spreader to put the chips down on the floor? I've got one in front of me and it looks like it just might work. What do you think?

I am not sure if you can. The vinyl fleks are very thin and vary in size. Broadcasting them by hand was not that hard. It just takes a Little bit to figure how to throw them so they are not in a clump.

My in-laws are really looking to do something similar to their garage floor. About how much does that system cost for a typical 2 car garage????

Very, very nice!! Looks great. Almost looks like a swimming pool!

I'm going to agree on the pool- can I come over for a swim? It looks great! The blue really looks great set against the red Vette. Very Sharp!

On the other note of a seed spreader- you could use a spreader if it we adjustable for the larger flakes or if you crushed the flakes up to a smaller, more uniform size. I have found that hand broadcasting them is the fastest, easiest way to get them on the floor. Practice on a clean dry floor to get comfortable with the broadcast technique and reuse the chips.
