Re: New US General series 2 26" boxes.

Has this been confirmed by anyone? Thanks
Inside of mine..I couldn't get any other drawer configurations to line up correctly

I still really like the box, I have 3/8" sockets standing up in the fourth drawer down from the top

A couple of these will work great down in my wine making room! I'm glad they have them in black now.

Been using mine for a few months now. Kind of using it like a mobile cart, I really like having the work area on top.f4e482e08f740f935493b3a7f70482e7.jpg

Does anyone have the top box for this? I’m debating picking it up but I’m not a fan of how tall it is. It’s either that or one of the new craftsman top boxes with the hutch.

Or maybe I’ll just leave it as is. The workspace is nice on top, keeps my bench free of tools.

Picked up the black 26" top on sale for $179, great quality, solid and heavy, great slides...highly recommend.

I'm just about to place an order for a 26" box and was wondering if anyone knew what the differences between the two item #'s are? The 64431 and 64432 specifically.

Thanks for the help. I've read the locking systems vary between the two model numbers on other sizes (latches and detents vs just latches) anybody know if thats for the 26" as well? or anybody else know of any other differences? I don't live close enough to a HF to just go check them out unfortunately so i want to make sure I order the correct one.

The 26" and 44" boxes use detents only, and more than likely use the same slides as well. They don't use the locking system that varies between item numbers like on the 56" boxes.

That said, the only differences that I've read about so far pertain to how far the drawers extend out when fully open. That's not to say that there aren't other differences as well. Unfortunately, for the 44" box alone, there are 2 different numbers for the red, 3 different numbers for the blue, and 3 different numbers for the black. And for the 26" there's 2 numbers for each color. Unless someone is purchasing more than one box and ends up with two different numbers to compare, or if someone goes to multiple stores to check different numbered display models, it may be awhile before you get your answer. Evidently, HF boxes have had different item numbers even before the new Generation 2 boxes came out, and it seems no one noticed the differences even then.

I'm with you. I don't like how tall the top box at Harbor Freight is. Plus the lid is so high, you can't work inside of it, it's too high to really have stuff organized and the compartment isn't deep enough to hold bulky items.

I ended up getting the top box at Menards. It's their Performax line and it's being discontinued apparently. The drawers are soft-close and are pretty decent. Craftsman top boxes were similar but the Performax matched my black bottom cabinet better, it was cheaper, and I had rebates to Menards. It's not as deep as the bottom cabinet but I don't mind having the extra lip on the front.

I really like the hutch concept over what Harbor Freight does. I like the pegboard along the back and the power strip with USB ports inside the hutch. Good place to charge batteries, phones, tablets, computers, etc. and still be able to lock it up in the shop if needed. Plus the height of the hutch is still comfortable to write or type on.

If I had to buy another tool box, I'd stick with Harbor Freight bottom and something else with a hutch on top.

It would be interesting to know the exact difference between the numbers. I bought 2 dozen of their floor mats so I could do half the basement, 5 packs in we had a different number. The mats claim to be a 4'x4' space which they are with the trim edge installed. But the two numbers had different width trim edges, meaning different dimension squares to they wouldn't properly interloc with the other part numbers. Had to return 9 packages to have all one part number to make it work and the one I made the discovery with had to be used elsewhere. Bet there's some differences there somewhere and not just a number.

I do plan to buy the top box when I get a decent coupon as it would be nice to space my tools better but I never installed the wheels so I'm not certain height will be an issue and I like the deeper drawers.

Picked one up this morning. Really really like the drawer layout. I like the many shallow/semi shallow drawers. Like this one better than my 5 drawer. Holds a lot and provides a nice work surface.c9158d4d95196bb1c1b2b3888dab1173.jpg

Would you mind telling me where you got the drawer organizers?
