I believe the consensus was they were SK pear head rebadges.

consensus does not equate to empirical evidence.

I thought they looked SKish.

Probably wherever SK is making their LP90's, at least for the innards. I don't know if Olsa has a separate plant for their handles.

S-K shut their plant down some time ago.
Has Great Star got the new operation up and running yet? Where is it located?

Olsa / Olsa Tools, 3-1807 2 St., Nisku, Alberta, T9E 0W, Canada / all product outsourced /

The physical street address shown on Olsa's website is a tire shop, according to Google Earth images

If and when "OLSA" wants to divulge where their product really comes from, would somebody please let us know?

I really don't think that Olsa Tools is counterfeiting the exact SK design inside the US in 2023, lol

I don't know but considering that they have been selling made in USA LP90's for a few years now, it has to be somewhere here and not "shut down".

Why don't you just ask the company your COO questions instead of grilling random people here? Heck, they are even active on the forum:

Although demanding the specific street address of a factory does sound a little unabombery. :eyecrazy:

^ I wasn't suggesting that any counterfeiting was going on.

They've been asked the question - long ago. Sorry if you felt you were being "grilled" - the questions weren't directed at you personally.

We are not in a state of war with a foreign nation who might drop bombs on us, as was case between 1942-1945. Ergo: there is no reason for a manufacturer to conceal the physical location of their manufacturing facility.
The practice of concealing the physical locations, direct phone numbers, and email addresses of tool manufacturers is almost exclusively a North American (U.S. and Canada) thing. Other countries very clearly post that information on their websites and in their catalogs and on their promotional literature.

The only reason for a manufacturer or business to conceal their physical location is if they feel they have something to hide.

I was going to guess Ajax/Matco, but alas between the selection handle, tapered head into the ratcheting mechanism, and handle design... I can't pinpoint it. Hopefully a GJ member eventually figures it out or can shed some light.

That has been my suspicion too.
Ive said it on here before, but I question if SK wasnt already using them for production.

And its awful ironic that Jim Davidson, who was VP General Manager at SK (Sycamore, IL) transitioned right in as VP of Operations at Ajax Tool Works (Franklin Park, IL).
He spearheaded the LP90 project from start to finish. Coincidence?

Well, the ad says "made in USA" so that's what they are saying as a Canadian company.

As far a marking the tool or even proving their claim, someone else can waste the time researching Canadian law, rewarding COO, product marking and the wholesale purchase from a NAFTA country (if that's where the product really comes from)

That would make a lot of sense. Seems like a lot of LP90 features from the selection switch and tapered head. Handle seems more Matco like to me.

Do we know if SK actually manufactured the LP90 in their facilities or could they have been outsourcing to Ajax the whole time?

Hi Ski,

Thank you for your question.
The majority of our manufacturers are located in Taiwan.
For the Pliers wrench, our manufacturer is located in Germany while the flex head ratchets is manufactured in the USA
We hope that information helps.
If you need any assistance, please let us know.
Thank you for your support! Have a great day!
Warmest Regards,
Mark

Canadian law doesn't apply here, any company selling products in the United States labeled as "Made in the USA" must comply with the Federal Trade Commission rules, regardless of where they are headquartered. Excerpt from this page:

FTC.png

Anyone who suspects a violation of Made in the USA claims by a manufacturer can report them to the FTC.
