My drill press motor has two output shafts. I have been using the press primarily for sanding and for drilling, however, I feel I am not getting full use from this old workhorse. Do any of you use your secondary output shaft (if you have one) and if so, what tool(s) do you drive with it? Thanks, sam

Outside of a flex shaft or a gear box I don't see what all you could power tht would be very useful.

alwaysflored, think of the older Delta RI motors. Back in the day universal power tools motors weren't electrically reversible and thus they had an output shaft on each side to be able to power the tool either direction.

zkling - I agree. My only thought was to attach my flex shaft to create an overpowered dremel tool. I was hoping there may be some other tool add that I was missing.

alwaysfloored - sorry no pic, but just envision the motor that runs a belted drill press - it has a shaft out the top where the pulley attaches. Mine has the same shaft out the bottom also (about 2 inches of 1/2" diameter steel cylinder with a flat spot for set screw contact).

I bought an early-50's CM drill press with a small grinding wheel attached to the lower shaft on the motor. Sorry, I don't have a picture at the moment. The wheel is well-used. Perhaps he did quick sharpening of his bits. I can't imagine it would be easy to do that, but if you didn't have a grinder I suppose it would be handy at least. Or maybe he was using some other tool in the drill press that benefited from having a grinding wheel close at hand.
