I have been looking for a drill press that had a deeper throat then mine, 6.5", and many new ones are in the 8" throat depth but I found on Craigslist a import floor model with a 1hp motor and 11" throat depth and a wet table. It was very dirty and rusty but a little weekend cleanup made all the difference.

I use 4/0 steel wool and Por15 Marine Clean to knock out the rust and old oil and dirt

Then I built a riser for ease of working with the tool and to save my back, as most drill presses are just to low for my liking

Then I added all the cool tool toys for a drill press

Looking forward to using it now! So, off to the shop.....

Thanks for the kind words, the bench grinder is a funny story, 35 years ago when I was in college a buddy had saw some tools for sale in the local Bargain Trader and I rode along and his guy had several tools including this one but it had no belt or switch and my buddy passed on it but the more I looked at it the more I wanted it so I bought it for $15.00 and added the switch and belt, and it still has the same 8 x 2" stone from all those years ago! I have been thru countless wire buffing wheels. It's open design works great for polishing as well. I can not imagine building all the projects I have done in my shop without it.
