I've been reading GJ for a few months, and joined a few weeks ago but figured I should finally do an intro so I stop getting that reminder every time I browse the site :)

I'm a hobbyist tool collector / classic truck restoration guy. I've got a 48 F-1 pickup that I drive on the weekends and a 53 F-100 pickup that I'm building from the ground up.

I live just north of Seattle in Washington.

I'm looking to start aquiring some Snap-On tools to augment/upgrade my mostly craftsman handtool collection. If anyone's in the area and knows a Snap On dealer in the Seattle area that'll sell to a personal/hobby buyer, please let me know. I've tried several times via the SO website to be put in touch with a franchisee and have yet to be contacted by one.

Thanks
Ralph

Thanks, appreciate the welcome.

930dreamer, I've never been to Texas, but glad to hear you like the northwest. We try not to let people know that it doesn't actually rain all 365 days of the year around here :)

Ralph, welcome to the forum. Good luck with the Snap-On dealer, I've never been able to contact with one; which I've tried several times. Now if I need something off of a tool truck, I'll usually buy it from a Matco dealer.

Good to know about Matco, maybe I'll have to try them since apparently SO doesn't really want business from private consumers in the northwest. Seems odd since there's a never ending supply of SO tool cabinets on Craigslist around here, you'd think most of them must have picked them up from a local truck.

When I was working in the trade, most of the shops that I worked in had Snap-On dealers that stopped by regularly. There used to be a Snap-On distribution center in Southcenter, not sure if it is there anymore. IIRC, they didn't want to sell to me anymore. They wanted me to buy from a dealer; which don't seem to be available to private parties, like you have found.

Welcome to the forum Ralph, I've been a mechanic for 30 years and dealt with all the tool truck salesman. What I would do is wait until you see one at a dealer, stop in and step inside the truck. I'm sure the rep will sell to you. I've done it before when I needed a tool or a warranty on a tool. Good Luck
