Hey all,

Just discovered this site not to long ago, I am a new home owner who has too many toys!

I am looking to upgrade the garage (obviously for being on this forum) to include an air compressor, insulated walls, better lighting, drywall and have a few initial questions before I really get into my project

1. Are fuse breakers pretty easy to upgrade to circuit breakers? These 2-prong outlets just ain't going to cut it.
From what I read online this is a yes.

2. Is it a HUGE task to add about 8ft on the back of my garage? The roof line might be a little tricky, but besides that I don't think it would be pending permit from my city

Wish I could help with the electrical, but if you have air compressor questions, but let me know if you have any compressor questions.

I would definitely do something with the electrical. If you are planning on adding the compressor and and any possible future power tools. Get an electrical to look at everything to see what all you will need.

As for adding to the garage anything is possible. but be sure to check with codes and such.

Excited to see how you progress goes subscribing for the updates.

You can replace a Fuse Box with a Breaker Box.

Before thinking of a compressor, you need to find out how many Amps are going to the building, and from where...and if there is enough capacity for the compressor. If you have only 2 prong plugs...the building is probably only 120V.

That looks like a pretty old building, and the electrical service is probably not to current code.

Adding to the back is easy enough, you can either marry into the existing hip roof and have a gable at the end of your addition, or you can remove the back hip and reframe half the existing building with the same trusses or rafters you put on the addition.
