Anybody have problems with Tire Marks?

I just finished my new VCT Classic Black and Classic White Garage Floor with 2 coats of Armstrong Sealer and 5 coats of Wax, let set for 4 days, put my car on it with Cold Tires and sat in the same place for 2-1/2 days. Left a Yellow tire mark I can't get out.

This happen to anyone?

Thanks,

Tim

There are some high performance tires that will leave black or yellow marks on almost any surface. It can be very frustrating for retailers and customers. You might want to try testing some break cleaner on a tile that is hidden or an extra piece. It tends to work pretty well BUT YOU HAVE TO TEST IT FIRST.

We also sell a lot of Clear Garage Floor Mats in situations like that. You can still see your VCT flooring but the clear mat takes the brunt of any tires or spills.

The tire marks are normal and the only real drawback of using VCT in the garage. I have had VCT in my garage for 3 1/2 years and keep four cars in the garage. I just stripped and rewaxed the floor. 95 percent of the yellow and brownish tire stains came out when I stripped the floor. I now put a loose piece of VCT under the tires of the cars that don't get driven a lot.

Perhaps the 1109 Epoxy will end this problem. I would like to hear some follow up on how it is holding up.

Also Tim, your garage looks great. You may want to rent a high speed (2500 RPM) polisher to finish off the floor. It will give you a mirror finish.

It was my Mickey Thompson Drag Slick that made the mark, they are very soft. perhaps my street tires will not mark as bad.

I've had VCT on my garage floor for 5 years and it doesn't seem to matter what kind of tires you will still get the staining. Really sticky high performance rubber seems to stain quicker.

I have used some #0000 steel wool and concentrated floor cleaner to get "most" of the yellow removed but it also scrubs off your polished finish so some touch up is required.

Its a chemical reaction between the tire compound and the VCT. Knowing this in advance I used dark tiles in the areas where my cars were parked. The stain is still there but not as noticeable on the black tiles.

I wish it was just VCT... I have seen it on every major brand of garage floor tile as well as garage floor mats. I will say that the cheaper garage tile stains worse than the higher end brands.

Off Topic I know,But I can't help myself.What 1/4 mile times does your 350Z run?

It's got a dead stock long block, Supercharged and it's a street car

total of 17 runs in 6 years.

Also, I have not run it with the MT ET Streets....

Best to Date 11:85 @ 119 mph

this winter I expect 11.60's @ 121

thanks for asking

Thinking about doing VCT in a black / dark gray checkered pattern (The stripes and GT500 side graphics are a very dark gray), but I think it may be a little too much.

The mirrors look great. Where did you purchase them? How much individually?
