Been laid up for a while but got a call yesterday from a former estate sale contact. I'm a little more mobile now so I took a little ride to what was left. The REM LINE box (with tools) was spoken for and there really wasn't much left. I had previously got a Parker machinist vice from this sale. Tad disappointed i asked about the wood vise mounted on a bench. Take it he said. Its a Richards and Wilcox-- free! I'm a mechanics tool collector so I'm a little in the dark about this. It has a quick release mechanism on it that appears to work! Any more info? I don't care what its worth.

It’s a nice vise. Buddy had one, took him a while to figure out that the quick release won’t work upside down while troubleshooting it after disassembling it. He’s still using it 12 years later.

Won’t get the high resale value of mechanics vises, but welcome to WW tools.🙄

I once received a similar old made in USA woodworking vise along with another vise that I really wanted. No extra cost to me. I just brought it home, brushed off the sawdust and cobwebs, rubbed on a thin layer of boiled linseed oil to freshen up the paint and sold it the next day for $50.

There are numerous versions of that vise. How wide are the jaws (7" or 10" are standard). Does it have a retractable dog? How rusty is it? In the Chicago area, value would be $40-90.

I read the thread title "New Vice" and was expecting maybe hookers, or cocaine, or high-stakes poker, a vintage Porsche affliction, or at least a Japanese screwdriver fetish.

Time for another cup of coffee.

10 " I don't think it has a dog but I'll recheck. Its actually in very good shape. Not really rusty. Nice "patina".Thanks. I rarely sell anything.
