Marketing email from VIM (which I'm generally a fan of) today with new products including a 4-drawer tool cart. Design similar to the US General but I'm sure better quality.

Price $863 with no warranty.

I know everything has increased in price and I'm sure this is sturdier and more durable than the USG version - but isn't that Snap-On lifetime warranty pricing territory?

Anyone understand how a buyer could justify this?

Thats still short of a Snap-On or Bluepoint equivalent, but so much more than a US General its in an odd spot. People willing to pay the price are likely to just go Snap-On for more money and those wanting to pinch pennies will find a much better value in the USG carts.

145#'s vs 97#'s for the HF US General 4 drawer cart.

Are these $1k carts with the open bottom really hot sellers? I'd want a full bank cart for that kind of money.

Maybe so. But the Vim unit has a cooler sticker.
for the spread you could have a professional powder coating shop put whatever logo you want on it and still come out a hundred ish bucks ahead

I just hate this in today's world. VIM makes cool tools and bits. STAY IN YOUR LANE!!! Why the hell does every company on Earth feel the need to be all things to all people. Milwaukee making square sockets? WTF. Make power tools. Everything today is marketing ******** and BRANDING (I hate that word).

I agree dnschmidt.

Walmart is even doing it with their Hart brand. Drills, saws, hammers, tool boxes, pry bars, etc., etc.PXL_20220504_220433417.jpg

For that money I'd expect a fully assembled, welded cart with a warranty.
