Just got this Athol 326x today! Haven’t done much research on it but I think it’s probably from the 50’s. Weighs 215lbs

That's a fine beast that you've dragged home. Seems like it has a booger weld repair on the dynamic jaw but you can fix that easy enough.

Yea, I need to give it a paint stripper bath. 100 layers of paint are probably covering up a bunch of stuff that I’ll need to clean up.

I'm guessing it's pre-1950s due to the bulb on the main nut which the handle runs through. Probably '40s or older.

Thanks! Everything black except for the lettering I heated up with a torch (not to glowing red just got them pretty warm) and then quenched them in motor oil and that is the finish I got.

Yikes. Your Athol was hiding some dark secrets. This sort of thing has happens to many of us here so try to take it in stride.
