Not for my home shop, but work asked me about HTP 200 Pro Pulse last month. Friday, they said it was shipped and on the UPS truck! I'm basically the only guy who can weld in the shop, so, I guess I can say it's MY welder:rocker: Looking forward to making some sparks ( when I was just a kid, I had a welder tell me, "Son, just cause you're making sparks don't mean you're welding". I'll never forget that.

That’s awesome and a coincidence!! I ordered a Lincoln MP210 on Valentines Day and it got on the truck Friday as well! Can’t wait for it to arrive.

I’m a novice at welding but I’m excited to learn and progress my skills.

That's a nice unit. We needed a machine that could do aluminum without a spool gun, along with regular steel. The HTP hopefully will do the job. I have a Miller 190 at home, but it has the spool gun, which is a no go for what we do at work.

So to broaden my horizons, what circumstances are a no go with a spool gun? Tight confines?

For instance in the Autobody trade, (which I'm in) ICAR standards (https://www.i-car.com/) don't recommend aluminum welding with a spool gun. Tight confines may well be one of the reasons, however, it may be other things. I'll have to check and find out exactly. I've gotten the ICAR steel certification already, but need to do the aluminum certification. That's the reason for upgrading the shop equipment. Our current mig welder does not have high enough amperage to meet the (steel) criteria that ICAR outlines. Much of this is to satisfy direct repair agreements with various insurance companies.

These criteria, while not guaranteeing a better repair, only give the parameter of what a shop should need to get the job done properly. It's pretty much up to the technician to make quality happen/or not.
