I posted about this over at ToolGuyd, but figured you guys would appreciate the news as well.

http://toolguyd.com/wera-zyklop-metal-ratchets/

New all-metal Wera ratchets.

One has reversible switch, other has pushthru square. I assume these are 3/8" ratchets, and pressed Wera for more info.

No word on price, ETA, length. Reversible one has 72 teeth, other has 38 dual-teeth design for 5 deg and 4.7 deg return swings respectively.

Its interesting that all the German tool companies are finally migrating over to more modern tooth counts at the same time (Gedore and Stahlwille have new products coming out this year as well) and all of them appear to be quick release. In the states the pro tool companies either don't bother with QR or offer them much later. ***** for me because I prefer QR.

Those look nice, their current ratchets look really cheap to me, but these look excellent. I'll definitely have to give them a shot. Thanks for the info!

Their main factory is Czech Republic now, I don't see any reason why these wouldn't come out of there... Germany maaaybe...but not much has come from there as of late. Maybe they can restart an old factory or something.

I haven't had ITB(impulse tool buying) syndrome in some time but this may do it...

I thought their sockets, zyklop roto ratchets, and ratcheting wrenches were all coming out of Taiwan?

The new ratchets will be called "Zyklop Metal" and the old one "Zyklop Speed". There will be 2 different versions: "Zyklop Metal Switch" with regular left/right switch and a "Zyklop Metal Push" version with push through square drive. Socket sets in a pouch will be available in metric and inch starting at 65.-€ in 1/4" with 28 pieces. The Joker wrenches will be available in a open end version too (10x13 and 17x19)

Wow. I'd love to have one, although I think I'd want a 1/4" even more.

available in 1/4"....

Thanks! Looks like all 3 common drive sizes.

If that's your photo, can I repost with attribution?
yes it´s my photo. You can use it, no problem.

i dunno.... what i heard of the ratcheting wrenches is that they are forged in Taiwan and finished in czech republic.

Depending on price, I may pick up some when they are available!!
the "push" ratchets will start at 38.-€ + tax and the "switch" ratchets at 28.-€ + tax for the 1/4" version

no thanks, one more trash made in taiwan.

that's the one thing I didn't like about Wera...not all their stuff is made in Germany or even close to there...I don't mind Taiwan tools if it's done right, but I don't want to pay for German prices either for Taiwan tools.

Anything wrong with Taiwan tools? I say no....but It's marketing premium charges for Wera.

yes,100 % true,i have nothing against taiwan tools as well, but ther's no way i would pay a price which i would pay for a german made tool, and wera, its okay till its made in europe (i dont care where in the EU) but since they moved to china/taiwanese steel...its just a shame, and to make it clear, take a look at joker wrenches, they are 90% made in taiwan and for 5 pc set you have to pay 80 usd,id rather take a gearwrench WHICH IS BETTER! for $30 12 pc or so...at last they dont look like they are made of cheap *** aluminum.

I love the green handle Zyklops which are real workhorses and able to do much more than a conventional ratchet, but also everything a conventional ratchet can do.

I could care less for another fixed metal ratchet - I have plenty of them that work.

Subscribed to this thread for release date info. I wish they came in the metal boxes with the larger assortment of socket sizes, and without all those redundant bits too (if getting all the drive sizes).

We just got a few of the Metal Zyklop Ratchets in stock. The 1/2" Switch type and the push through type. The 3/8" are still on backorder. We also have a small 1/4" Metric set in stock. I think the canvas pouch the set comes with is great and the 1/4" ratchet is awesome.
