New Wilton "All Terrain" Vise?

I was on the CPO website the over the weekend and noticed an ad for this "new" Wilton All Terrain Vise. I couldn't find anymore info on the Wilton website but that could be because it *****. Maybe I can help them out with that ha .

Anyway, this new vise is a pretty slick idea. It is actually made to fit into a receiver hitch. Since I'm in the process of putting a new welding table together and planned on receiver points anyway, this vise seems like just the ticket maybe.

Anybody put their hands on one maybe at a show or something?

I've seen others do the same with a regular vise, some steel plate, and a hitch yoke sans the ball.

I actually am planning on welding up something similar to mount a smaller el cheapo vise to a plate which in turn goes into my hitch receiver.

Edit: It's neat they picked up on this idea and made a factory one.

I was planning to just build a platform for my el cheapo vise but this would be a lot cleaner solution. There are a few small tradeoffs, e.g. can only rotate in 90deg increments vs a swivel vise on a platform.

Cheaper ($159 versus $200ish for Wilton), made in Idaho, USA, MUCH larger opening for changing U-joints on trail, 10 1/2" versus 5 3/4" for Wilton

Jaws are 4" versus Wilton's 6", both have pipe jaws, Wilton has larger anvil.

Mac's has bottle opener

Mac's is 18 pounds, Wilton is 40.

The Wilton has a regular handle, Mac's uses a wrench or ratchet. If you want to leave the Mac's installed while driving no worries about handle dragging. I could use my cordless impact to run the Mac's in or out and use wrench or breaker bar for final tightening.

Mac's has a cool holder for storing it or other hitch items.

Here is my version of the trailer hitch vise. The shiny spots on the square tube are where I built it up with weld and milled it to a snug fit in the receiver to eliminate wobble.

The pipe vise is handy too!

That Mac's vise is awesome.

I always intended to attach a vise to my Heep when I was rock crawling, but never did. A HiLift or ball joint press was used several times.

Thanks for posting this bluebolt. I didn't know it existed. They'd probably sell a crapload more by marketing to the farm and construction markets instead of just the 4x4 market. Then again maybe they do.

I got the wilton, I like it. The handle can be moved, by pulling out on it.
