So I used to have a little 3/4 hp roll around dust collector which I bought used for $40. It was so annoying and the stuff hose made me hate using it. I finally sold it for $80. I figured to either buy the harbor freight 2HP or to look on the used marketplace which would let me get more bang for my buck. I finally found and bought this SHEN KUNG KUFO UFO-101 2HP collector yesterday.

I paid $150, and I runs like a champ. It also has a larger 12” impeller compared to the HF unit.

Now i’m going to connect it to a Super Dust Deputy and a canister filter.
This collector has a 5” port with a dual 4” Y.

I pickup up the Super Dust Deputy from woodcraft for $162 out the door with a coupon.
The dust deputy port is 6”. Is it worth enlarging then intake on the dust collector to 6” and install an HVAC take off? Will I actually get better CFM on the other end of the dust deputy?

The other option would be to just cut off the Y, giving me a 5” port on the collector and get a 5” to 6” adapter.

I’m going to install the Dust collector blower directly above the super dust deputy and build a setup similar to this setup.

For the chip container under the super dust deputy, I have this old steel canister from a shop vac I’m thinking of using. it’s 10gal, 17” tall by 14” diameter.

I will have to make a wooden top and I can just remove the hose connector and screw a clear window in its place to see the dust level. Is there a downsize to using a smaller container like this other than having to empty it more often?
The other option is I can get a fiber or plastic drum with cover. I found some locally including some 29” tall fiber drums for $5. I’m just waiting to get the diameter. I’m trying to keep it compact and on a mobile cart. I’m also trying to keep from going to tall and making the cart top heavy.
for a filter I found a 0.5 micron merv 15 canister filter on amazon.
it has 226sq ft of media which is slightly higher than the 222sq ft on the wynn filter and only $120
Dust Collector Filter - Height: 26" OD: 12.75" ID: 8.375" / Nanofiber FR, Open-Closed pans 0.540 BH https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Y8P2L6C/?tag=atomicindus08-20
Does mounting the filter with a 90 degree elbow reduce enough cfm to make it noticeable? I haven’t figured out how i’ll be mounting the filter yet.
Thanks for your help.
