Started cutting yesterday for a work table project. I was able to get a lot of the pieces cut yesterday and will post some pictures of what I get accomplished later this afternoon. I am not going to divulge the purpose of the work table till the end when I can post a picture of it in use.

Is the lathe a clausing?

JP: i actually was planning on spiffing up a trailer i bought that has good bones and new wiring and tires and love the look of your trailer. i like wood and the red and black as well as all the tie downs. did you make the spare tire holder or did you buy it? can you post up a few more pictures or email me a few of your spare tire holder, tongue and trailer when you get time.

also looking forward to seeing what you are building and are you done with the last work bench that looks like you are already using it?

cheers

JP: i've still NO CLUE on what you are making and the Chevy emblem sounds like a good guess.

nice way to store your trailer sir. did you make that trailer from scratch or just modify it?

thanks for the pictures and anymore you have to email me would be great so i can see if i can make my 4x8 mini version of it look sort of similar.

Drives the new work bench project is not complete but got put in use as a necessity. I still need to finish the backsplash and attach the aluminum angle edging. I have one tool box that I cleaned the drawer slides and put together, still have the other 2 boxes to clean up.

JP: did you do all the wiring or was that all pre existing? AWESOME looking trailer.

anything new to add to the sand dune racer or whatever that is that you are building?

or is it too dang hot in God's waiting room that is more like HELL in the summer with your 120 degree days? Do you have AC in the shop?

BTW i just posted up some tools on my Drivesitfar's finds thread if you might have any idea on what they should be used for.

JP,

If I am seeing things correctly you have a pretty cool collection of gas and oil cans. Have more pics of it anywhere here?

Got some time in this weekend on the work table. As bullnerd guessed it is for a Off Road Race Car. This Polaris XP Turbo will be run in the Best In the Desert series next year.

JP: so you weren't building a race car, you were building a steel work table to have your race car sit on? looks like it worked and are you the driver or just the car's owner (or both)?

WELL DONE!!

Jeff,

Nice work and good looking table! Any more specialty items to be added? Finishing it with paint/powder-coating?

I commend you for being able to stick with it in this heat. Difficult for me to get motivated to do anything when it's 100+ in the shop!

Thanks Drives.
NOT my race car and will not be a driver.

I am a part of the support team. The guys wanted a roll around table that would be at a good height to work on. The team came up with what they would like and I came up with a sketch and it was off to the steel yard. The goal is to come back from a race, clean up the car set it on the table, we will be able to see if anything got twisted out of shape. After each race the front diff and the transmission will be changed out also and the table is at a good height to work on. The purpose of the table is to see if anything got out of shape but we can also work on the table and have a place to keep all the parts in one place. The car will spend most of its time at my neighbors either on the table which we can roll over there or if the mechanical work gets complete we can drive the car back over the his shop.

Todd.

Thanks Todd, it has been hot.
Not sure if it will get painted yet. I still need to make a few more stands, we started out at wanting 12 stands as reference points. I will know by the weekend how many more but I think it will be still be 12 so 6 more to make.

bullnerd,
my apologies on not answering your question about the lathe. It is a 1955 Clausing 5310. It is a project, I bought it and did not get around to messing with for 6 months. When I found the motor was burned up I put it aside for a while. I have since bought a motor and new drum switch. I am getting closer to getting it going but still need to get the Feed Screws and blocks for the Cross slide and tool post slide.
