I am laying out a new workbench using recycled "all steel" brand office cubicle cabinets painted with rustoleum tractor paint.

Those horizontal cabinets snap into the partition tracks on the top end. painting still in progress.

I needed to position all to get a feel for workbench height - seems like two 4x4's stacked will get me the 7 inch or so height bump which is acceptable.

Open to suggestions on how to do top support stringers in a different way.

i realize i will lose possible storage space but do not think want to compromise strength to build additional drawers under there.

Thanks for your ideas!

Thank's i have used same panels before - the body of panel is some odd, not drywall... some hardiboard like substrate based on drilling characteristics and the perimiter frame is steel. I put some cabinet screws through far side of rail teeth in additional to panel and for storing the old helms maintenance publications it seems to hold up fine.
