New workbench

Since i've gotten a lot of good advice from here, I thought I'd share a few pics of the adjustable workbench I just got done building. I got the idea out of WOOD magazine. My tablesaw can store under it in the raised position and act as an outfeed table in the lower position. Space is a premium in my 2 car garage so it's mobile as you can see. I threw on some peg board for all the saw accessories. I'd appreciate your feedback & suggestions!

Nice, I'm just getting ready to build something similar. I like the angle iron method of getting casters attached to your stand, I think I'll do the same now that I see it actually. I also really like the peg board idea, good use of space, and great way to keep all those annoyingly shaped, hard to store items close at hand.

edit: Would you please take a close up of your angle iron/caster solution and post it here? Much appreciated!

My design is a bit different. I plan to build fold down leaves on the left and right sides and outfeed side of the table. They will be folded down when I store the table under my workbench counter, and when I need to do work, I just roll it out, flip the leaves up and have at it.

Nice! Consider that idea stolen! I'll be doing something similar after I get the metal shop all setup. That's really what I need. That can act as a second person to catch boards coming off the saw too, or support for ripping heavy plywood. Awesome

The mobile base on my tablesaw is a prefab unit i got @ Menards a few years back. It's a universal unit that is adjustable to fit any tool base. I really like it because I can raise or retract the wheels with 1 foot and wheel it around the garage to when I want it. Had to modify it slightly recently to fit the new bench height I think it's made by PortaMate. Yep copy this link into your address bar.
