Hey dude,

Any updates on the shed?

You may not remember me, but I spoke with you briefly at Volksworld Show 08 or 09 when the drag bus was indoors. I was with Paul Cullen and that lot. I ended up buying the Pepsi-Cola squareback.

Hope all is well.

Pete

I think you have the wrong person! Is it Alan you met? If so, he's my mate and works just up the road.

Thought i'd do an update since i haven't done one for a while.

Couple of new additions to the shop. That welding / fixture table i said i was going to get from work is in the shop now! Its huge and is very heavy. It took some getting in!

I bought a second hand forklift truck off ebay. It wants a good service really but runs fine. Wished i had at when i was getting the table in.

The electrics are all finished. 3 phase is up and running. Mill, lathe and saw working like a goodun!

Been using the shop for what is was intend for this last month. Nothing to write home about but its all extra money! since i only work in the evenings and weekends.

I've got loads of photos that ill put up once photobucket has finished uploading them! I always like to look at the photos in these threads. i hope you do too.

Oh, biggest thing thats happened since last update is i have bought my first house! Hopefully get the keys next month :bounce:

Couple more shots of them wheel spacers. They had c/bored holes on each side. I turned up a boss to reduce setup time seeing as i had to make 4.

I think all of us on the GJ are awestruck at the space you have. And again on the heavy duty tools, machinery, and your abilities. Your space is something I have had dreams about, but the **** is I wake up and find out it was only a dream. I could spend the rest of my life turning a place like that into the way I would want it. Problem is, I would never get it done in the remaining lifetime I have. I wish I could pick up one of those buildings and get it dropped on a nice new concrete floor in my backyard (oops, I mean "backgarden". Tires or no tyres!!! And at the "End of the daaay, and a couple pints of Newcastle Pale Ale, I would be a very happy camper (ooops "caravaner")
Cheers

Thanks for the kind words. I dreamt about having my shop whilst i was doing my apprenticeship. 6 years on and i'm well on the way. There's loads of things i i still want/need to do but ill get there eventually. There's also so much more i want to learn. Being 23 i guess i've got plenty of time.

Today has been quite a good day. I picked up a new machine. I've bought a band saw from my employer. They were getting rid of it and i offered to buy it. Space is definitely getting tight now! Its way to big for what i need but for what i paid i'd have been a fool to let it go.

I'll get a picture up later.

Work was getting rid of 9 granite surface tables too, to try and save calibration costs. Numerous people claimed one including myself because they were going to get thrown in the skip. I've got a 2 foot square one on a heavy duty stand with leveling feet. I'm taking it home on friday along with two others that im dropping off for two mates. Having a van has its downsides.

It has a hydraulic moving jaw, blade auto adjust and rise. You can set the blade speed, feed and also how far the blade rises after the cut.

The crank handle is for a fine adjust when you are aligning the blade with a mark on your stock to cut.

I moved the mill on sunday into the corner further to try and help contain the chips to that area a bit more.

I'm going to ask work tomorrow to see if i can borrow their machine skates and jack so i can move the welding table and try to clear a good accessible spot for the saw to live.

Your fabrication skills are excellent! Very impressive! Love the space.

I have competent woodworking skills, but very little in metals, so I'm always impressed by gents like yourself who can do so much. You sound like you're having a great time too. Thank you very much for sharing.

Ken here from BuildThreads, Inc.

Congrats and nice work Busters_Caddy - this build thread was chosen as a Best Build Thread pick for this week.

What this means is that a bunch of guys who like to build stuff (cars, trucks, 4x4s, bikes, cabins, boats, planes, and garages) and have read a ton of build threads, thought that this build thread makes a valuable contribution to online DIY culture.

So, without further ado:

Congrats again and cheers!
