It's been a while but getting out of the military and moving from FL to ME took me offline for a while. Went house hunting this past fall looking for a house the boss wanted. We looked at 12-13 houses but none had what I was looking for (a workshop) on our last house hunting jaunt we were brought to a house that was off our list. This was because in the ad it stated "unfinished 2nd floor" but we ended up at the house anyway(my agent saw something I didn't) it also only had a couple pics in the ad that didn't show how amazing this deal was. We got there and this is what I saw. House was built in 1860. Was bought as a shell and completely redone.

Needless to say this was the selling point for me. We bought it and here is my shop so far. All post and beam built 2005. And I get 2.35acres to play on. (Already found an old Packard in the back of the lot)

Wow, Cool old house on a big lot, nice post and beam shop and an antique car that you "just found". You're off to a terrific start. send more pictures!

I will grab some more photos on a bit. Right now there is about 4 ft of snow so can't go get pics of the Packard till it melts. But also where the car was I found a 30'x 30' area where they used to dump metal and glass. From what I dig up it was from '31-40's according the the two old license plates I found. Lots of glass bottles and OIL cans! So much treasure out back!

The kitchen has a slate tile with radiant heat installed. (Too messy for pics right now)

Before we bought it we had to have an old 2 car garage removed (bank didn't like the fact one wall was falling down) I am kicking myself for not saving all of the wood. most of it was rotten but a few wide boards I was able to save.

Getting the 3rd room finished slowly. Pex pipe has already been run and insulation installed. Now it's on to drywall.

Shop heat.

Wow! Now that's cool! Awesome house, workshop, and property! I'm tuned in to this one to see whatever may come of it!
Did they keep the house "original" or does it look brand new inside? Just curious.

Doug, it's new as far as piping, electrical, foundation is the original field stone but they dug out and used cement to firm it up, new foundation under the crawl space area, it still has a dirt floor basement portion, new drywall, new wide pine flooring upstairs and in some of the downstairs, has the original claw foot tub, all windows and doors are newer pella wood frame.

Question - what is the distance from the wall on the right side of this photo to the post on the left? I am going to build a loft in my barn and am trying to determine if 12' is enough or if I should go wider.

That's an awesome find! Congrats on the home and the barn that came with it! What is the dimensions of the barn, and the loft if you don't mind? Thanks a lot!

Loft is 16' wide. Length total for the barn is a tad over 30'. The bay's on the side are 10' wide.
So total barn width 36', total length tad over 30'.

No I acquired them from a friend that knew I was collecting them for my future man cave. I also have a bunch from the different states I lived (my own plates) then there are two I dug up in the back yard.

Thanks for the dimensions, that place is perfect. The loft is really nice too, love the exposed beams and everything

In the woods^
Got some reclaimed wood from an old barn that was on the property. I removed some nails and screws and built a bench with storage under in the mud room. I am going to use bead board on the wall behind it, some more reclaimed wood to build a shelf and use some copper pipe 90's for coat hooks.
