There is not a ton of information available on Garage Journal about these, so here is a first impression review.

I have been on the hunt for a good deal on some Metric combo wrenches to replace my Craftsman USA raised panels. I knew I wanted either Williams Supertourques to match my Imperial set of something German (Gedore, Hazet, Stahwille).

Requirements were:
Longer than Craftsman USA
Chrome or Satin
Large range with additional sizes available outside of sets
USA or German

Enter the Gedore 1B set - 20 Pieces sized 8-32mm. Satin finish, deep offset of the closed end.

First impressions, these are definitely quality wrenches. The machining looks great, the satin chrome is very nice and if it weren't for a few of them bouncing around in the box during shipping, they would all look flawless.

The beams are slightly thinner than Snap-On and noticeably thinner than the Craftsman. While thin, the beams are rounded nicely and feel good the hand. One thing I have noticed with German wrenches is the weight, they seem to be lighter than an equivalent USA wrench. The stamping near the open end is easy to read and the extra material following down the beam looks to be a nice design feature.

The broaching is very clean as is the chrome. The open ends are smooth and do not offer anything like Snap-On's flank drive. That was another reason I liked the idea of matching the Williams Imperial wrenches that I already had, but for the price I got these, no complaints. We will see if that is a downside in use.

The only downside...they don't really fit into any of the wrench rails that I have, especially in a 2in drawer.

Overall, I am very pleased and look forward to putting them to work.

TOPTUL makes an identical style of wrench (which they likely stole from Stahlwille or
Gedore. I've always thought that this design is far superior to the conventional 15 degree combination wrench for two reasons. The offset makes a great handle that's easy to grab and doesn't hurt your hands and secondly clearance.

Beautiful set of wrenches. I agree, the deep offset box end seems like it'd be much more useful than the standard 15*. Nice!

Great looking wrenches! Where did you buy them?

I especially like that they echo one of my favorite wrench styles; the 1950's Williams 'streamlined' wrench:

Unfortunately, AFAIK, the Williams streamlines were only made in DOE, and no metric sizes.

Nice wrenches man! I've got the Toptul version Denny mentioned, haven't used them much yet but really like them. They don't have the added material at the open end, but are comfortable and the offset box end is very useful. Recently I recently picked up a used Stahlwille 14 10mm, which is also as you described- thin, comfy, and strong- and am thinking about picking up a set.

You'll find that those matte chrome finishes are much more difficult to clean than a satin finish chrome. I'm not even sure why Europeans prefer the matte finish over the typical satin finish seen in Asian and North American tools (although some Taiwanese manufacturers do produce it with matte finishes)
I guess you made a trivial mistake... Gedore is almost exclusively coated in satin chrome finish... They mastered it, and can be taken as an example.

Why do they need to be easy to clean?

Back to opening post, and really important idea of typing: those are really pretty looking wrenches... I set myself on completing Gedore No.6 double open end wrenches set, well, that may last a while... There has been at least one post about affordability of set as OP has bought... So, how much would cost, optimally, either exact set or most alike?

Mmmm...there are pro's & cons to different tool finishes. Mirror polished chrome is easy to clean while the tools are new. Use them in a work environment for a while & they get scratched up and end up looking not so mirror polished. I have both & my Stahlwille industrial finish is by far my favourite, after years of use they pretty much clean up & loom the same as the day I bought them. The Germans tend to give you what's is best for you and what's best for the tool, gleaming jewelry type tool chests looks great when new and are desired by many consumers, but perhaps not the best long term finish for tools of the trade IMHO.

Amazon / KC Tool has them listed for ~$500, but if you watch them carefully you can get them for significantly less.

I got this set for $155 which I think is a steal. As soon as I bought them, the price jumped back up to $510.

Well, sure is killer deal - it would kill me... May, as well, try with truckies.
For latter - also for Stahlwille. Friction of satin tools is more occurring - primary thing on oily environment.

In digits 510 and 155 - pretty similar... Permutation out of mistake?

I had them in my watch list and watched them drop from just over $200 down to when I finally pulled the trigger. I don't think it was an error, but Amazon has been doing some crazy things with tool pricing lately.

Also Belzer Super Block and Streamline. All good looking wrenches.
