New Wright hex sockets not stamped USA

Just purchased a new 1/4 drive SAE hex socket set and was surprised that there was no USA on the socket. I did see some of the hex inserts stamped USA, but none of the sockets.

I'm assuming it is made in USA, but found it odd that it isn't marked...

Lets give them the benefit of the doubt... But still, would love to get these and some Cougar Pros on a scale and see if they weigh the same...

According to the CougarPro catalog, they don't make any SAE Hex sets though... So they're most likely Wrights...

Fwiw sometimes 1/4" drive seems to have less overall stamping...

HJE is where I got the set. My set is slightly different (same part number though) the 5/16 is the full size of the bit all the way into the socket base. The socket itself is slightly larger than the rest due to it. (Instead of the reduction to 1/4 like in the picture)

That is obviously an improvement.... however it just bugs me that it's doesn't show USA....

I'll be honest, that's a pretty high price tag to begin with, USA or not. Especially since they are stepped down bits.

I bought this set about a year ago and they've been great. Only stepped down is the .050" and can't beat the under $30 price tag for a USA set.

Send them an e-mail inquiry. I wouldn't worry about it TBH either way. Jusk make sure you have the correct SKU and not cougar pro.

As much as I like Wright, I'd sooner buy the bondhus version which is also US and way more affordable, it also uses sockets that match the hex size. Either that or buy the bondhus inserts and a set of Wright sockets which was almost cheaper when I looked then buying the Wright hex bits.

Do the labels on the bottom of that rack have COO?

The rail itself is labeled Made in USA. (see photos) I know you can purchase these seperately, so that shouldn't be what they would label as the whole set being USA.

I'm sure it is all USA, (the set did change though with the difference being how the 5/16 is made, which is the main reason I have that little bit of hesitation that maybe this is a new product)

I'm going to call when I get the chance.

They don't make the rail. Craftsman & SK use the same clips and rails, though not red & blue.

Like others have said, email or call Wright.

I would also consider buying a few replacement tips now, before you break them when you need it most.

Royal is also a middle-person, so what is your point in saying HJE is? And yes, I have bought tools from both places.

HJE is nice because they carry a lot of USA made tools that are on close-out. They also have top-notch customer service; much better than most companies.

The only difference is the Chrome plating, the Wrights use a much better chrome.

For reference Matches sockets for many years were made by Wright.

And HJE has always taken care of me and are a vendor with mindset that is pro-American and who believes in quality tools from the past, hence their buying NOS tools. Plus they helped me with a boat load of Bonney tools, and for that I'm indebted to them.

I'm told that the only time you'll find a Wright tool on a boat from China is when it's being used to make the boat go faster.

As to the comments about HJE, I have dealt with them both in person and on line. I can't say enough good about them. Unless it's something I need NOW and can get locally, they are my first choice to buy

Did this HJE "joker" bang your wife or something. The infatuation is they are a small business that focuses on USA MADE tools. And they periodically give members here discounts. They take care of their customers and actually do care about customer service. Something that doesn't happen a some bigger companies. That's why most here like them. I have not read one negative review about them. I'm sure someone has had a bad experience from because no one is perfect. But for the most part they are great.

Not the case, the bits are stamped USA. (that's what I thought was odd... if the bits would be stamped, why not the socket?)

It also shouldn't be due to the small size of the socket (lack of room) because I'm guessing Wright's 1/4 sockets are all stamped USA (I don't have any, wondering if anybody else does...)

After watching that video posted previously in this thread by Wright that they posted on their Youtube acct just a couple months ago, there's pretty much no way any tool with their name on it isn't made in the USA.

They pretty much staked their entire business reputation on anything with a Wright name on it always being only made in the USA with that vid.

I can't believe all the questions on regards to a wright being made in USA or not come on guys even the guy that said apex makes the smaller sockets. Well not the case at all must not know much about wright at all for making comments like that, Anyways 100% of their tools are made in house and 100% are USA made that is they're claim to fame is how I'm going to say it and the Cougar Pro are contracted with Danaher or and are of Asian descent. Now the older just Coagar were made by Danaher in Texas same as older Craftsman and so on and look like any other Danaher and they don't hide that the Cougar pros are made in Taiwan as it says right on website and packages. Wright will never make any tools anywhere with the name Wright on it anywhere else than in house and in USA. They have been a contracted company and made a lot of tools for many company's as in Powerkraft, IH, and many others in the past but no longer do and are 100% family owned and make amazing tools as good as any snap on. I own a lot of all the brands I mentioned and love them and I'd take a wright socket over snap on any day you can feel the weight of them just like a snap on and canttell quality just compare one to a craftsman USA or something great chrome as well. Check out the other Wright YouTube videos they have to learn more about them also give them a call they are all awsome people.

Not so, nobody is a bigger Wright Tool fan then me but I do know they do not make 100% of their tools in house. Here is some examples.

Compare this certification certificate with a SnapOn, they are identical.

Not made by Wright

Tool Boxes are manufactured by SPG International in Canada

I have the Metric Hex bit socket set and mine are not stamped USA either, look closely at the 6mm, when I received it there was no stamping at all, I called them up then drove over and they happily exchanged it.

Wright also sells Vice Grips which are made in China. I know there are a lot more examples of tools they don't make and just relabel, and also tools made overseas. The vast majority is USA and in house though.
