I am new to the site and thought I would introduce myself as my first post
I am 18 years old and a High School Senior and have maintained a 3.0 GPA all 4 years. I have been working at a BMW and MBZ shop in Anaheim Hills as a shop boy for the past 7months and really enjoying it.
Here is my BMW 1993 e-36 325i 5spd with 92,*** Miles

P1000843.jpg

This car was left to me by my Father through my Mother
When he passed away when I was young my Mom kept this car as a second but since she has always had company cars it was driven very little
This car is really special to me as it is one of the few thing I have to remember him by

Growing up it was just Mom and I so I didnt really get to experience much "guy" stuff till much later in life when my Mom met my new step Dad. From then on I have jumped head first.

Here is my tool box it is a 1982 Snap on Kr-557c I picked up on craigslist for $320
IMG_1981.jpg

there were some stickers on there when I got it I removed most of them but left these two
IMG_1984.jpg

IMG_1985.jpg

Like many of you I purchase my tools through many different sources
Sears, Ebay, craigslist, Snap on truck, and even some through Harbour Freight for certain things
Brands I have in there are Craftsmans, Cornwell, Snap on, Blue Point, Williams, Matco, SK, harbour freight
here are some pictures of the drawers in the order they are

Welcome aboard, Good to see younger members interested as I was as a "Boomer generation" kid. You have a much better collection of tools than I had at that age. Keep 'em clean and use them as they were intended to be used, they will be your heirlooms in the future. Good luck.....

Welcome!

That's a nice E-36 you have there! I'm sure with the history behind it you'll keep it in great shape. :)

Nice start on the tool collection too!

Where did an 18 year old punk get the money for a BMW?

Nice tool box and tools, good to see a young kid buying quality tools.

Doh!, sorry, I missed the text between the pictures (went right from the car to the toolbox), sorry to hear that your dad died at what must have been a very young age.

Sounds like a plan, Your young enough to change your mind if you decide its not what you want down the road. The Best advice i can give you is dont get yourself into a boat load of debt right off the bat, Nothing wrong with investing in your local truck dealer for everyday tools, specialty etc, but you will find some great deals on used tools here in the classifieds. Good Luck...

NIce set up, keep the debt low and your head in the books and you will turn out fine. Good collection of tools you have and it appears you take care of them. Stick around, you can learn a bunch of stuff from this bunch.

Mickey O well Im over it no worries
but these older Bimmers are becoming more affordable ie e-30's and e-36's

I could have worked all summer for 4 of my past summers mowing lawns to save up for that car and you not have any clue that I could have been putting in 30 hours a week for 4 summers

Please dont let fact that that someone is from affluent area be a crutch to be rude

stereotypes are exactly that they fit some people but not all
ya I agree in Orange County there are quite a few "18 year old punks" given much newer and nicer car
I do not fit that mold I am an 18 year old that drives a 17 year old nice BMW that works hard and is respectful
If I am respectful to you and others than I expect respect to be shown

Great tool setup! It seems like you already know a lot about what tools you want and that's a good thing. This is a great place to pick up a lot of knowledge and find out what works and doesn't. Welcome aboard!

I was just goofing, all 18 year old kids are punks to us older guys. I grew up in an area where the parents bought their kids new BMW's for their 16th birthday, bunch of punks.

Welcome to the board!! Nice tool collection. Take two medium hose clamps, place one around the silver portion of the box handle, place the other one perpendicular to the first, between the clamp and handle. Now insert the big orange handled pry through that clamp. You now have a place for your pry bar.

Nice toolbox and tools. It seems you are doing well for yourself. Keep it up!

I bought myself a bmw when i was 17. Mowed lawns from the time I was in fifth grade and saved every dime. Still have my 318is. It is a great car.

Saddleback College is better than Fullerton. Sure, I'm a bit biased since I took six years of auto there, but really, it's true. They just upgraded their machine shop two years ago to the latest and greatest CNC machines, and the teachers are EXTREMELY good at what they do. I got excellent training there, and miss going to class. I even went in on my days off work when I was building my two stroker motors. If I wasn't working or sleeping, I was in the machine shop.

You can see some photos of how the shop was before the upgrade on my website, specifically here. Even with the old equipment, it was one of the best stocked shops in the state for training purposes, and possibly for commercial.

Plus, since you now live in South Orange County, it's closer. I lived in Santa Ana when I went to Saddleback, and while the drive wasn't bad per sé, it was definitely a chore. I would have loved to have been closer.

If I were you, I'd talk to Cliff Meyer or Darell Deeter and see if you could go in and take a tour.

Welcome aboard the GJ it's a great place to meet wonderful new people that enjoy tools!
You have a very nice tool collection , I started out with a small hand held box and over time it has grown.

The great thing about our hobby is that one day you will pass on your tools to the next generation.

All the best Woody.
