Two of the Pro Series locker cabinets were delivered today. Ordered from Overstock on 7/24 - so 6 calendar days is pretty darn good. Got them for $602 each. (free shipping, no tax)
One of the cabinets had a slight dent in the side and some of the paint rubbed off on the side as well. There was a door on both cabinets that needed to be torqued ever so slightly in order to straighten for a more precise seal when closed. Nothing major, and since these will no doubt be moved again in a couple years, I wasn't too worried about a couple minor marks.

Nicely built. Good weight, without being impossible to move without heavy equipment. While I love the StrongHold 12 gauge stuff, and have been watching Craigslist for a year now, with no luck, but knowing I'd be moving these not too far down the road, I like the fact they are "only" 225 lbs each.

Went with the Taupe as the floor I just did was tan and I'm kinda tire of everything being grey-tone.

Haven't yet put the shelves in yet (as you can see they are leaning up against the cabinet) They also come with a clothes/coat bar and brackets. Might get a 3rd one to hold motorcycle jackets.

Looks great! Home Depot is having a sale on New Age right now.... From the sound of it, you are having a good experience and I should bit the bullet. I don't have a ton of money, but I'm thinking one tall cabinet and one work bench to start off with.

New Age has 4 lines - Performance, Performance Plus, Bold and Pro. The Performance line is a good value-based line that is sold at big box, costco, etc. for decent prices. The metal gauge is lighter than the Pro, but I'd rather go that route than doing shelving or stacks of totes. I know there are guys on the forum who have gone with the Performance line from Costco and are pleased. I stepped up to the Pro line since I knew I'd eventually be moving them and wanted a heavier gauge box. If you have been watching the prices and HD has them at a good price, I'd go for it. :)

Haven't yet put in the shelves, but I did put in the coat bracket/rod in for the photo. These are big. 3 feet wide. 24" deep. 82" tall. (most basketball players could fit inside)

Shelves:

Coat bracket/rod

I have had my Diamond Pros for 2 years now and I am still very happy with them. I think they are about the best bang for the buck in metal cabinets. You will have to pay a lot more then they cost to get better cabinets. This is one side of my garage, I have another set of these, minus one end cabinet, on the other side of the garage.

Very nice! Planning on getting some uppers for another wall of the garage since as I continue to unpack, I find I need more storage. (Had built-in's in the AZ garage) where did you buy yours?

Thanks for posting the pictures. I've been wondering what these cabinets were all about.

Seems like they have modularity build right in.

Hi, did you or do you need to bolt the closet to the studs or can be it freestanding?

I didn't. No earth shaking or children around here. They would be tough to tip over, but it would be the safer thing to do. You can also bolt them to each other. Once I'm certain this is the right location for them, I might throw a couple lags in the top.

do any of you guys have a foundation lip in your garage? i'm hesitant to pull the trigger on the cabinets until i know exactly what to do. I have a 1in concrete lip along the entire garage floor and i'm not sure how the cabinets would sit since their backs are flush.

this would mean i couldn't get the cabinets to sit flush with the wall and thats a no no...

some have suggested to nail a 1 in wood board against the wall to a stud and then the cabinets will sit flush?

any suggestions?

thank you!

Don't install the feet and float them on the wall. Just hang them instead of free standing.

My floor slopes towards the garage door for drainage. I built a frame of 2 by's and plywood the height of the concrete and scribed to match the slope of the floor. Now you've got a flat surface to set the cabinets on and you can mount the cabinets flush to the wall.

While not a foundation lip, my garage has baseboard trim, so if you scroll up to the pics on post #6, you can see I jut have them pushed against the baseboard. I don't have them hanging or mounted to the wall - they are free standing, and it would take a significant effort for them to be pulled over - even if I tried.
1) they weigh a lot. 2) they are wide/stable. 3)the heavy stuff is usually put on the bottom shelves (who'd want to lift the heavy stuff to the top shelf any way) 4)I don't have any kids climbing on them or earthquakes.

So in the utmost of safety, yes, they should be bolted or hung on the wall, but I feel they are very safe/secure even "just" being free standing. An easy way to bridge the gap would be as the OP noted - mount a board horizontally to the studs, and then lag bolt the cabinets to the board.

I just purchased and installed three NewAge 5-drawer Pro cabinets in taupe, as well as two upper cabinets. I really like the color and they seem to be made well. The 5-drawer cabinets came in at 180lbs each, so bring a friend.

Lowes had a good deal on them and I was able to combine the already discounted price with one of their coupons, so it made them cheap compared to full price. Not to mention free shipping to the store... I ended up paying $360 for what is normally $500. They are still on sale now.

The other nice thing about the Pro series, other than the thickness of the metal, is that they are 24" deep rather than 18" like most others. The drawers are probably about 22" deep themselves, so you get a lot of usable space. The hinges allow the drawer to pull out all the way, which is nice.
