Hi everyone, figured Id stop in here and introduce myself. My garage is pretty much plain jane at the moment. 20'wide x 22'deep, unfinished walls and bare concrete, not much compared to some of the garages ive seen on here:bowdown:

Id like to finish it out, but I dont have much time or money to spend on it.

A few things I would like to do:
1) Paint the walls and ceiling. I do like the designs, such as a horizontal stripe all around, but its a bit more work than I feel like doing at this point in time. I think if nothing else Ill throw some white on there just to make it look a bit more finished. Plus, white will make the garage feel bigger than it is, and enhance the lighting.

2) The lighting *****. Theres the lights on the garage door motor, and then a single lightbulb mounted on the ceiling. Fortuantly the windows on the garage door let in a lot of light during the day, but its not very helpful at night. So, Id like to add a few flourecent light bars to the ceiling.

3) Finish the floor. Id like to do epoxy, but it seems like it takes a fair amount of time. Also not sure what color. Grey with flakes is always a safe option. But I was thinking white maybe, like a hangar, but I imagine it would always be dirty.:headscrat

4) Storage. I added the L-bracket shelf just to get some of my tools and stuff off the floor, but it looks cheap and isnt very big. I eventually need to invest in a tool chest, but they arent cheap. I saw someone on here made a wheel-rack, I might have to make one of these so I can put my winter wheels up there.

Anyways, I guess Ill try to post some pictures and stuff whenever I get something done.

Welcome to GJ, btsbar. A little paint will go a long way. White is a safe color, but a light tint of a color adds so much to a room. 2-tone paint is not that much more work than one. If you're going to all the effort to paint, a little planning can make a garage really pop.

There are many pages here that discuss lighting and flooring. It will take some time to go through, but your comfort level will be enhanced when you are done. In my garage, I changed out the 60 watt bulbs with 100 watt and it made a great improvement. I'm laying out now where to put fluorescents to get rid of the single bulbs.

Good Luck on your project.
