trying to come up with ideas on finishing my garage floor. the first room i want to do will eventually become a laundry room, so perfection isnt needed, but i will be doing a 1 car and 2 car garage afterwards. the future laundry room is 16x16 and already has some floor paint from previous owners. this paint did not hold up well. I have been looking into epoxyshield from lowes. my main concerns are the prep work of the floor. when i etch the floor will that remove the paint that is on the floor now or will i need to use something else to remove that?

Etching will not remove paints or sealers. There are soy based strippers, diamond grinding or shot blasting. If you strip then you need to acid etch after. If you diamond grind that is great as your preparation. Shot blasting machines are too big for a laundry. See http://www.situp.com.au/How to clean concrete before sealing.html for some more general information. Also go to http://www.situp.com.au/Concrete garage floor coating.html. I am sure some more experienced guys on this forum will help with their advice too.
