Newb with a torpedo heater question

First. This is my first post here and I'm glad to be a member. I can't wait to learn from the experience folks here.

I have a Reddy heater that will only run with the top cover off. If I take the cover off and let it start and burn for a while, then as soon as I put the cover on it shuts off. Any ideas?

There is probably a flame switch by your burner. With the cover off the switch may be triggered by your normal lighting. If the sensor is misaligned or dirty it could cause your problem.
