I have been lurking at some level on this site for a few years and now I am serious about getting started but I am horrible at visualizing and could use some advice. I am thinking about 34 wide 24 deep. The deeper I go the more costly, I already need five feet of block on one corner due to the slope of the lot. I am thinking about a 18x8 door and a 9 by 8 door, 9 foot walls, which will give me 11 foot ceilings. My house is brick so for looks I was thinking o bricking the front. So my questions, do the door sizes make sense? Would 3 doors look better? Going for 2 windows in the back and 1 on each side, which I think will be ok, but again I **** at visualizing. Is there a siding choice that really works with a brick house. My wife says it needs to look nice. :3gears::shocking:

Bigger is always better.

How are you intending to use your garage? What works for just parking three small cars might not be the best is you have three monster trucks---and intend on working on them in the garage.

A couple of general thoughts.

Eleven foot ceilings are a bit low if you intend on having a lift. They are a bit high when it comes time to paint the ceiling, change light bulbs, etc.

Wide overhead doors are great, but your combination of building and door sizes doesn't allow much room between the garage doors and the side walls of the garage. It's nice to have room to open the vehicle doors---especially if you plan to have anything (like work benches or storage shelves) along the side walls. Depending on the type of construction and your location, you may need a bigger wall between the building corner and the overhead door to control racking.

I have found it difficult to back my F250 through my 9' doors without almost taking off the mirrors... (maybe I **** just at backing up...) So if you aren't good at backing in or have wide vehicles the double door and single door combo would be nice... Mostly it depends on what you are going to be doing in the garage as to how you want it laid out... Storage, workbenches, tool chests, auto lift.... etc
The 3 doors would be more visually pleasing from a symmetry standpoint, as well as the spacing of the cars for opening doors...
Is this a detached garage? As Onewolf said you'll probably want a man door as your primary entry and exit, much faster than waiting for the garage door to roll up or down... The door can go on either side as is best for you... or if you need it on the front as well you could space the garage doors further to one side and put it in the front...

I agree 3,doors looks better. Garage will be for working on motorbikes, parking, I will have a lift at some point. I agree I would like to be deeper but lot dictates 24. Man door on right side of building. What program did you use to make the drawing?
