I have been viewing the forum for quite some time, however this is my first post.
I am beginning to do some research since I am looking to purchase a home in the near future and building a workshop is at the very top of my list of things that needs to be done when I move in.
I am not really into car mechanics or welding, I am into woodworking, therefore the shop I build will be only for this purpose. I live in Canada, so keeping it warm in the winter is my main concern, however I will also be on a fairly tight budget.
What I was thinking of doing, is building it without a concrete slab, basically on deck blocks with a gravel bed as a base, almost like a shed only larger.
I know that usually, with concrete slab foundations, they use rigid foam to insulate the floor before they pour the concrete, however I am not sure how I would insulate a floor built on deck blocks. Is this possible to do?
