Hi Folks, looking for a bit of advice before I jump into a floor project. The end result I am looking for is a smooth glossy floor that will hold up to me parking cars on it along with my garage projects (mostly smaller wood and metal working), easy to clean, and mostly make the neighbors envious!

So here is my plan - fill expansion joints with Legacy Industrial gel crack filler, grind the floor, rustoleum epoxy patch (the roll on stuff) for the spalling, regrind if needed. Then I suppose I should use a primer. I have heard that the Rustoluem standard epoxy kit is a good primer(???), then 100% solids epoxy base coat (want 100% solids so Rustoleum is out), leaning towards Epoxy-Coat (or other suggestions) then clear. Looking at Rustoleum or RockSolid clear. So before I get flamed, I get a discount from the local big box store so prefer off-the-shelf where it makes sense. Last part is I work for a commercial cleaning products supplier so I have a warehouse full of floor finish. Once the clear is cured I plan to lay down a few coats of 25% solids floor finish to protect the clear and also to give that lovely supermarket shine as we in the business call it. I have no issues with an annual strip and re-coat on the finish to keep everything protected. I have the tools and experience so easy project for me.

Any issues with the above, also anyone have any experience with Rock Solid Polycuramine? New to me but seems like it might be another option to the Epoxy-Coat, still budget friendly and locally available but reviews are hard to come by. Just want to see if anyone who has been-there-before has advice or caution about mixing brands or a better option for a primer coat.

I prefer to stick with 1 manufacturer, where products have been tested and are compatible with each-other...but in your case... have you priced out how much you are going to save by buying the products you need from 2-3 possible vendors, compared to one vendor from this forum?

As far as the clear goes, are you going to buy a clear epoxy, or clear polyurethane? I suggest the polyurethane.

If you want your finish this glossy and smooth, look into thinning your coats down 5-10% with the recommended thinner.

Polyuramine, great marketing strategy. It's basically a variation of polyurea, from what I can tell. If you decide to use it, do your research and keep an eye on the pot-life during these summer months. Legacy Industrial on this board also has a polyurea, maybe pick his brain a bit? It also looks to be more affordable

I have Epoxy-Coat but the next garage floor, I'll use Sherwin-William commercial/industrial products.

I love my Epoxy-Coat but I like the S-W's method of mixing and application better.

Just different products, with different mix ratio's. Any particular reason you're set on SW?

You also have Carboline and PPG in Houston and Tnemec in Dallas if you're looking for something local.
