Good morning all, I'm a noob here so ya'll be gentle with me.
I've been given a Champion vertical air compressor and I'm guessing with at least a 60 to 80 gallon tank. I know from the top of the compressor head to the floor is 6 feet. Year of manufacture on the tank is 1969. So I'm guessing this thing is 40+ years old. Looking up the number stamped on the motor tell me its a single phase 220/240 volt Marathon 3hp 1800 rpm with two starting capacitors.The plate for the compressor with the model and serial number is missing. Its never been used in a commercial setting only in a car collectors shop then later in its life it lived and was used in a barn.
The original pressure switch has been replaced with a standard Furnas type switch. The compressor functions well and cuts in and out at a 100 and 135lbs.
The only issue I can find with it is that the low oil shutoff is bleeding air out a small hole in the body. This shutoff is no longer wired up. I saw that Todd Brock posted he had this exact problem with his compressor and even posted a youtube video of it but I didn't see what he did to fix the issue. I'm sure someone here can advise what the solution is.
