Hi I'm Svende. I've been looking at this site off and on for some time now and thought it about time I introduced myself.
I don't have a garage but a guy can dream right and get some incite into what I need and want when I finally do.
My main passion is detailing friends cars to relax when not at work (nothing car related I'm afraid), I'm quite the Weekend Warrior.
I hope to find some bits I can use in the small space I have available for all my car cleaning gear till I can eventually get something more suitable.

Svende: you are in the right place. some members have their toolboxes in their apartment's closet. we all have to start someplace. i have a word of warning though because if you remain a member here your wallet will always be empty, but your tool inventory and knowledge on how to use them will really grow.

welcome

Lol. Thanks mate. My wallet is already well battered. Car detailing products don't often come cheap and spend GBP£1,000-1,500 a year.

Svende: nice avitar picture and now that you've been officially warned enjoy reading all the threads that interest you. i hang in the old tool section mostly, but there are lots of great information on other things and techniques.

Welcome aboard Svende, Can I assume you already have a power/electric buffer to save time?

I had a rotary a couple of years ago but I didn't like the feel. I like to polish by hand. It's hard work but I can feel and hear what the paint work wants and needs and adjust my angle, pressure, direction, more or less polish, etc... accordingly and although my body (especially my arms and back) are in pain it's worth it to see the finished results and my friends faces when I've finished with their car.
I've considered a DA for occasional use when time is limited as it's usually about six to ten hours on the exterior alone (one-two to wash, four-six to polish and one-two to wipe down and then seal) but we'll see.
