I have checked in here on and off for years as I have searched for garage and shop information, but just signed up this week.

I built a 40 x 21' garage with shop last year (would love to have gone deeper, but had a house on one side, and zoning restrictions on the other.) My hobby cars are small two seaters (MGs, Triumphs and such), but I need room to store more. I do a lot of DIY with cars and home improvement, and "can't" isn't a very big part of my vocabulary. I will need to raise the garage door first, something I should have done in the first place, but was kind of overwhelmed with job and lots of house projects in addition to building the garage at the time, so I just built to standard spec. Anyway, will save the detailed stuff for the other board. Motto, "nature abhors empty garage space as much as a vacuum, and will tend to fill such space in short order"

Regards, Greg

Welcome aboard!

My hobby cars are MG's and Alfa Romeo's. Do you have your eyes on any particular lift? I bought a DirectLift ProPark9 (four post lift) because the ramps are wider than other models. This meant they are close enough together to fit my small cars (an MG Midget will just fit!) yet it is also big enough to lift my F250 extended cab diesel pick up.

Thanks Eric, I have been driving and fixing up British cars all my adult life, last few years I have branched out with a couple Germans and a Swede. I have never owned an I talian car, and want to change all that soon.

I have looked at lifts a bit, and my brother, who shares my affliction and already has a lift, warned me about the ramp width thing. He had his custom made for a couple hundred more and it will work with his Bugeye Sprite.

Spacewise I wouldn't mind a narrower lift overall, but looks like options are limited.
