Hello everybody,

I just got my first house over the summer and decided to epoxy the garage floor before I got settled. It's holding up really nicely to my abuse, but I do a lot of automotive work which involves a lot of grease and oil hitting the floor. It doesn't seem to be staining anything, but it's a real bear to get out with basic floor cleaner. I have some greased lightning, but I'm worried that the strong stuff might hurt the epoxy. Any tips or suggestions? Thanks

-Jon

I've been using Simple Green to clean my epoxy floor for about 3 years now.

1) sweep floor
2) dump 5 gallon bucket of clean water on the floor
3) squeege floor
4) add about 1 cup to 3~4 gallons of water and scurb the floor with a medimum brisel stiffness brush. For the areas that are heavily stained I use it full strength.
5) squeege floor
6) repeat steps 2 and 3
7) enjoy your favorite adult beverage while admiring your clean floor

3 years and no problem so far.

one thing to consider with various cleaners is if they leave a tacky residue when dry, those tend to create a much more difficult to clean floor.

We have beens struggling with this as well. Have a quartz floor that is pretty dirty (previous owner) and I have not been able to find a product to clean it. I was actually looking into renting a commercial floor scrubber (the kind you find in hospitals or costco) and giving that a shot.

I will give simple green a shot on a small patch and see what happens. I have a large area (3600sq ft) so "elbow grease" might put me in the hospital! :)

We have had a lot of customers use Purple Power too. Seems to work well.
