Hello all,
I stumbled upon this website while trying to find info for an upcoming project I have. This site is very cool.
I did have a few questions about something I have going on, if anyone could help me out or point me in the right direction I should would apreciate it.
So my wife and I recently bought our first house although it is old it has a HUGE garage. The plan was to eventually build a spare room in the garage that I could do my moldel building and painting in. It is not going to be a big room, about 8x8, I really dont need a whole lot of space...
Anyway I have all the plans drawn up and all the other stuff is in process, what I am worried about is the tempeture of the room, and I want to solve this problem before I put hammer to nail.
My concern is that here in Sacramento the summers get very hot (100+ temps) and the winters are quite nice. I dont want my room to become so hot in the summer that I cant use it. I am planning on insulating the walls and ceiling of the room, I also have a portable air conditioner(the window type) I was thinking of making that a permenent fixture for the room. I know it could easily cool a room as small as I am thinking, but the unit is about 8 years old and I question the cost effectivenes of the unit.
So what are some of the things I can do to help keep this room cool? Any insulation tricks? Should I go ahead w/ the A/C unit? I am on a budget so please keep that in mind w/ your suggestions.
Ashton
