I am wanting sugg and ideas on what to look for
And possibly reace to
1-get a floor/slab poured
2- insulate and dry wall
3- electric
4- possible ac/heat
5- door options
Here is one pic of barn and ill get better ones on inside
In the next day or so

Nice, I live in Southern Indiana. Washington, IN. Just built a new 30x48 pole barn with 12' ceilings and upstairs. I have a 5" slab, 2x6 walls, 16" on center. R19 insulation everywhere. 7/16 OSB walls. Fully wired. The ceiling is 29gauge metal. I have 15 8' long 4-4' bulbs/ fixture. I took my time. alot of pros on here.

What are your goals for the building when done, wood shop, playground, metal fab or? What is your budget? Are you hiring it done or DIY?

In your post it sounds like you want a nice place to do some work. Looking at where you are starting it may easier and cheaper to start over. looking at rust on the siding I would question the age of the building and the condition of the posts in the ground. The posts are your foundation and if they are not in great shape then you may be starting with a big handicap.

Rake out the dirt inside and get rid of any lose stuff. You need to closely inspect the post where they are set into the ground to make sure they are in good condition. You also need to inspect the roof. The siding looks kind of rough but it just might need paint. Make sure these are all in good shape before spending money on anything else.

A slab is a good start, but you need to decide what kind of heat you may eventually put in. If you are thinking of a radiant slab at least the tubing will have to be install along with the floor. Even without radiant heat, a vapor barrier and insulation under the floor are good ideas.

Don't take on more too much at one time.

I want a work shop area for fab work
Along with auto repair and custom fabrication
I have been thinking that maybe starting over and reusing the trusses
If in good condition
My father in law set the poles in and not sure age
The metal paneling doesn't really have rust
Maybe just surface rust if that
As far as heating not super smart into lingo on building garages!
I am very much a DIY and my father in law and I work for a huge cabinet manufacturer
So wood working wont be a issue and building cabinets either
I plan on running welders
Tubing benders
And building a frame bench for chassis fab

They sub it out to a crew. I purchased the material from dc for my ceiling and called the crew who did my building and they did the work for 1/2 what dc wanted

First thing is make it weather tight. Electricity would be nice. Then think about overhead doors. Or sliders if thats what you want. Think about the way the wind blows. you dont want want all your heat blowing out when you open the door. Some concrete is going to be needed. Look on Craigslist for used foam panels for insulation if your going to try to heat it. Theres more but that will get you started. Is there a house on the property? Good luck, I've started with less.

Yes there is a home on property
And I need to further inspect the structural part of it
That will be my determining factor
I may tear down and salvage what I can
From it
Or dig a outter slab troth thingy
Lol
Around perimeter including poles and build a
Small structural concrete wall
Then use that as my permitted for slab
And then build up from there
Again I plan on paying as I go and DIY alot of it

If your out in the country and you decide to build a new building, I would spray a coat of paint on the old building and use it for cold storage. Or future projects. Good luck on your project.

Ya I am really thinking starting from scratch is the way to
Go
I been talking with steel masters about one of there buildings
And got some Amish friends who may do slab for me
Unless they come back with a good price for a building
I also checked out a few rental spots near my house
One was 2600 sq ft with ventilation
Office/ bathroom
For 800 a month plus electric
He also has a 32x40 two bay with new ceilings garage doors
Motors
Insulation
Concrete slab
For 350 a month plus electric
But he is adding a office and bathroom and a storage spot and once Thays done
Rent goes up to 600 a month
