Hi,

After I installed my vent free heater, I chanced on the part that says -- oh yeah you have to vent your garage. :headscrat

Anyway, here's what I've got. 24 x 20 garage, insulated walls and ceiling ( around 9' high). The siding is rough cedar

Heater is supposed to heat 1000 sq feet or so.

I only want to use it occasionally, and I don't want to cause any problems with melting and freezing the roof. ( Roof is well vented)

I just read about a wall thimble on another post, and I wondered if that would suffice. The concept seems simple enough, although I've never seen any like those shown.

I'd like to block at least most of it when I'm not heating (I'd probably leave the pilot on). Also, I'd want it to have a screen or something to keep out mice.

Appreciate any comments
Thanks,

The wall thimble is used to vent exhaust gases from the heating unit. If you have a ventless unit it does not require an exhaust vent. What you probably need is a fresh air/make-up air vent.

I would check with your local plumbing/heating supply store. Thay can probably make some recomendations to fit your application.
