Hello fellow gearheads!

I'm searching for a good engine stand. One that is stable enough to hold a BBC with marine accessories. Looking at most of the usual sites, but many get bad reviews. This site seems to have plenty of knowledgeable to get advise from.

Thanks in advance
Chuck

That was one I had my eye on, but I got concerned when one of the reviews pointed out that 3 of the 5 wheels are fixed, and point in different directions, making it hard to manuever. Do you have 5 or 6 wheels?

I had a first-gen Cummins 6BT (out of an '89 W350) on one of those red 2,000 lb.-rated Harbor Freight engine stands for at least two years. I rolled it around the shop and even moved it from one house to another. It wasn't super-sturdy when rolling around on uneven concrete and the location of the locating pin hole that was drilled through the neck caused the inline six to tilt at an odd angle, but I never tipped it over and the stand never failed.
The engine weighed about 1,000 lbs, and I recall it being somewhat difficult to roll around, but not hernia-inducing. If you're looking to hang a 500-700 lb. engine off it, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
