Hello from The Netherlands. My name is Menno. 62 y/o and already retired, I used to be a school principal (Dutch high school level for 40 yrs). Now, I'm doing some advice work for schools, I present training courses and I'm involved in audits when it comes to what's happening inside the classrooms.

This forum was recommended by my personal friend Don, who's a member here. We both share the love for classic cars.

I own a 1959 Triumph TR and a 1973 all-original, European specs Porsche 914. The TR was restored (partly by myself) between '04 and '09. I pulled the Porsche from a garage where it had been standing for 18 yrs with a faulty electronic injection system. It was a quick but expensive... (Porsche...) repair.

We currenly live in a house next to a town park with a one-car garage. However, we managed to find a 6 acres plot of woodland wiht a bungalow and... a 2100 sq ft former horse barn / workshop-to-be!

Don suggested that I should join this forum for some serious inspiration! Plans so far are painting the walls (top: white, skirting board-height: carcoal), painting the floors in a very light green colour I remember when I was a young kid. (My dad and I once visited an US aircraft carrier that was in the Rotterdam harbour). Or in modern terms: BMW's Dakota Lemon leather interior...

Furthermore, I think that there's room for a man-cave as well. I'm currently thinking about buying a bunch of metal office storage cabinets. Lining them up and add wood cladding (planks) to the back as a man-cave wall.

As said, I'm a newby. So I'm open for suggestions and do's and don'ts!

Finally, as you've noticed, English isn't my first language. So please, don't send in the grammar police!

Menno

Thanks for the welcome!

I mentioned the barn on a Porsche forum and one member replied: You know you've achieved man status when your workshop is bigger than your house!

An appropriate observation on this forum, I presume.

Hi Menno -- good to see you here! I'm looking forward to seeing the TR in that new *giant* garage someday.

It's a LOT bigger than your old one-car garage! :)

Welcome!

Don
