We'll, it's not really a toolbox or workbench or fridge, more like a kegerator, but it does store cold beer so it's close! Here are a few pics of the progress....


I started with a small chest deep freezer, then added the collar that you see painted white with chalkboard paint in black.

What did you make the collar out of and how did you insulate it?

Will the thermostat that came on the freezer allow you to make it warmer than freezing or did you have to modify it?

The collar is made out of a 2x8 and is attached to the original hinges on the freezer. I think screwed the freezer lid to the collar. I've got weatherstripping under the collar but have not insulated anything else. The stock thermostat will not work, it gets too cold, so I had to buy a digital thermostat that I can control.....here's the link to the thermostat I got.

Thanks! A buddy of mine did something similiar so I kinda went off of what he did. However, if you check out homebrewtalk.com, there are a lot of write ups on converting different fridges/freezers to kegerators.
