My Wolverine garage floor is finally complete and my wife no longer thinks I am crazy for wanting to spend the time and money on a garage floor. It looks amazing!
Also, the customer service from Fred at Alpha Garage exceeded all my expectations. He was quick to respond to all of my neurotic questions (even on the weekends).
Wolverine Materials purchased for a 462 sq ft garage
• BondTite 1101 - 3 Gallon Kit
• LiquaTile 1184 - 3 Gallon Kit - Medium Gray
• LiquaTile 1184 - 3 Quart Kit - Medium Gray
• EnduraShield 2254 1.25 gallon kit
• IntegraFlex 1921 - 1 gallon kit
• SuperGrip 850 - 0.5 pound
ColorFlakes purchased from Torginol (great pricing!)
• 75 pounds of color blend B-714 (mushroom) and size 1/18"
o I went with the full rejection look and I think I had about 20 pounds of waste
Other Materials Purchased
• Clear Measuring Buckets...Buckets...Buckets…
• MEK
• Mixers large and small
• Sherwin Williams Contractor Series Soft Woven Roller Covers
• A couple of spatulas from the dollar store to make it easier to mix smaller quntities for an exact measurement
• A notched trowel
• Two pairs of spiked shoes
If you search this forum you can learn everything you need to successfully epoxy a floor. However, here are a few things that I have not seen mentioned
• Spike Shoes are extremely helpful. However they will easily pierce an electrical extension cord – who knew!
• I had one of those clear buckets with the measuring lines with a misprinting. It was obvious and I should have noticed that the lines were in the wrong location, but unfortunately I noticed after I mixed a quart of Bondtite. Thankfully I did notice while mixing the two parts together and I just disposed of the entire batch.
• A notched trowel is your best friend. It made spreading the LiquaTile so much easier
• Take your time and really get the IntegraFlex smooth. I have a few bumps and valleys from skimming over the product to quickly.
• IntegraFlex and EnduraShield coverage rates are very exact. I had nothing left over and I was worried the entire time that I would run out.
• A couple of days later I used some left over Bondtite for the top coating of my stem walls instead of Endurashield. It looks great and I can’t tell where the two products come together.
Prep Work - It took a lot longer than I expected, but after a couple of days of work the floor finally felt like sandpaper.
1) Degreased the floor
2) Cleaned with Phosphoric Acid - 1:4 ratio (Specco Clean & Etch C27)
3) Grind with an Edco dual head grinder with Dyma Serts (7.5 hours)
4) Etch with Bond lok (ORGANIC ACID SALT AND SOLVENT)
5) Etch with Muriatic Acid 30% - 1:1 ratio
