So i had been looking on CL and local papers for a compressor to replace my 25 year old craftsman 30 gal before it gave up the ghost.took a quick peek on CL one morning and saw an listing for "60 gal compressor-needs motor or pressure switch-dont know for sure $100.00"and a picture of this.
I figured i would take a chance for 100 bucks.plus it was only 10 miles away.Got it home and set it up-ran it through several cycles with no issues.several days later i noticed the pump would slow almost to a stop and then speed back up at times for no rhyme or reason.Went to bed that night thinking about it and the only thing that made sense was the belt slipping-belt slips-pump slows down-belt gets hot and grips agaln-pump speeds back up.Checked it the next day-THE BELT WAS LOOSE.So i got a nearly new 60 gal compressor for 100 bucks.I love it!!!

Thats what happens when someone with no mechanical aptitude owns a compressor..... someone else makes out like a bandit.

I think you deserve a "You ****" for this one.

When I saw the title, I thought "the J is right above the N on the keyboard, did he mean a Jewish Compressor......... and what the h#ll is that?" Strange where the mind takes you sometimes.

I have the husky branded version. Works great for my use. One day when I have a shop I'm getting something much bigger.

Glad it worked out for you. Compressor looks really clean.
Interesting air intake, you set that up? Looks like a filter from a shop Vac.
It probably breathes better like that and quieter too.
Nice score…

I noticed that too. It would be smart to shorten the ****** coming out of the head to a close ******. Take away the weight from hanging so far out away from head. That head is aluminum.

the filter is from a 2004 chrysler sebring so it should breath very well-it fit perfect on a piece of 3 in schedule 40 pvc and much quieter and for some reason the perspective makes the pipe look longer

Lucky it didn't catch fire. That's the risk of a belt drive, and especially a single belt.

Ridiculous!
Never heard of a belt driven electric compressor starting on fire simply do to a loose belt. :wtf:

Me neither. I've been on dozens of service calls where the belt was so loose it squealed for weeks according to customers. Also, I've been on calls where the pump was locked up and the motor pulley ground the belt into dust until it broke. Never a fire from a belt.

Great deal!
Been looking at air compressors on Craigslist and I can't believe the number of people who are asking new list price for 20 year old compressors!

I'm in the same boat. I've been scanning Craigslist and the prices that people want are crazy. Keep hoping I'll stumble onto a deal!

Nice find for the OP!
