Dunno - every now and then again a blanket discount will appear during a Craftsman Club promo week. I've seen a few "all on sale" online promos, and recently there were 5%10%15%20% tiered promos online for certain price ranges.

So, are you looking for a particular box to be on sale? Otherwise I would consider 10% off to be too small to bother. In another thread several of us were discussing the 60-80% off deal of some craftsman intermediate boxes that a number of us took advantage of.

Odd thing is, Sears is "training" us to buy only when items are heavily discounted. I now find that I won't buy a tool at Sears unless (1) I absolutely have to have it right now, or (2) it's at least 50% off. Good for me, bad for Sears in the short term. Bad for me and bad for Sears in the long term if they go under. BUT, we live in a culture where both consumer and corporation only think a week (or less) into the future.

Its a 500$ box that needs to be ordered, and is ineligible for free shipping, so 50$ is 50$

You, sir, are correct. Well, mostly correct. It seems that only "special orders" qualify.

In my experience some Sears associates have the power to grant instantaneous 10% discounts under extraordinary circumstances such as when a customer monopolizes their time for 15 minutes and is still on the fence about an expensive purchase.

Don't wait too long, Sears has a way of punishing people for waiting until just before Christmas to buy stuff. The best sales are just after Thanksgiving and the sales discounts decrease less and less the closer you get to Christmas. It may be different this year if volume is down but, I wouldn't count on it. There usually aren't that great of sales after Christmas either so, they can maximize profit from those individuals using gift cards.

I agree with Fedwrench - while there are some good deals to be found, most of the great ones are over and done with, but they should pick up in mid to late January. This is pure speculation, of course, but mostly accurate given the past two years' trends.
