Stopped by the local Sears today to pick up the Craftsman badged Knipex Cobras that I'd ordered online.

Noticed that the Nextec work light was on clearance for $14.97 (half price). Of course, they had none in stock. So I asked the sales clerk if he could sell me the display model. He said "sure, but I don't think I have the box or the paperwork that goes with it." I said no problem I don't need that stuff. Turns out the display model had a battery in it, so I got the $30 work light and a $20.00 battery for $14.97.

Just checked online and the bare light comes up as $25.49 so it may be an in store only deal. YMMV....

I tried to do the exact same thing w the floor model a couple weeks ago because it had a battery in it, but the manager dug up one NIB. At that point I didn't know how to explain I wanted the floor model, so I left it alone. It's been on clearance in stores for some time.

The spec's posted on the Sears website say it will operate for 12 hours on a single charge. Is that you guy's experience - or BS?

I've run one of mine for about 7 hours before the battery gauge had turned red. Don't know how accurate the gauge actually is but it hadn't dimmed at all.

Sorry, there's NO way 12 hours or 7 hours. Sears claims 1.5 hours and that's accurate IME. I've used it a LOT and trust me, I know what I'm talking about. 1.5 hours seems accurate, I'll have to change the battery several times in a 3/4-day to full-day project.

This is the main drawback of flo vs something like the Milwaukee LED stick light.

Maybe you guys are looking at specs for the 19.2 C3 light which, as I understand it, uses the same bulb? But NO, not 7 or 12 hours.

My results are using the basic 1.3ah batteries. I never realized the battery w the 6 LEDs in the bottom is meant to be an XC at 1.6ah (I know, not really XC by Milwaukee's standards), and people have reported greater run tims with that, but it seems odd to me to have a battery with lights powering a light LOL

That should've been a 2 instead of a 7. I agree that 7 hours is unobtainable.

Been using the SWIPE keyboard on my phone the last couple of days and I'm struggling.

i want one but out of stock. with this item be obsolete?

I'm kind of afraid they are doing away with it, which ***** 'cause it's a great light but for the run time (which is manageable). Would be just like Sears to discontinue an awesome product. However from what I can see they're not getting rid of the 19.2 fluorescent, and you'd think they'd can both or keep both, but who knows.

I was told it is being disco'ed so I got a second one. Its the only nextec tool I own and it is a great light at a great price.. Typical homeowner line **** they get something great in the line and they drop it and add some stupid vacuum or other dumb tool that barely works..

Where can you get the 13 Watt, 300, lumen energy star fluorescent bulb once it burns out? Is it a common item?

Other discussions on the forum have said it looks like your basic 13W bulb for any trouble light like this, but I honestly don't know as I haven't taken it apart to compare (I do have an old corded Karr Products light that also uses a 13W flo). So I can't attest to that for certain.

But if you got it for, say, $15 (and already had batteries) and got even just a year out of it it's arguably worth the cost. I suspect bulb life would be much greater than a year and the real threat is dropping it.

Yeah I saw the Nextec vacuum got horrible reviews and the line trimmer (weed eater) and I think the hedge trimmer seemed to stay on the market a VERY short time. You have to wonder if anyone at Sears actually uses these tools as they were intended to be used (even by a homeowner) before just throwing them up on shelves.

I picked up some spares at Lowes. They are a pretty common bulb available in most large bulb sections. FWIW I could not find them a 2 different Walmart though. Ace Hardware also carried them. Mine were Sylvania and about $7-8 a piece IIRC.

For those looking for the light, go check the Sears outlets. The had tons of these things along with the circular saw and rotary tool at most of the outlets around me.

I tried that and they weren't going for it they would not give me the battery with it so I passed. I'll pass on the floor model and just get a new one from the back.

Pretty sure this is the same bulb I will check later today.

My light is on a job and the spare bulbs are in the shop. I have not burned one out in a year, the dewalts on the other hand last maybe 2 months before the top falls off and the bulb gets broke horrible junk...

I went in yesterday and asked if they would sell the display and the manager said yes. I was hoping he didn't notice the battery lol. Then he said "that's a good deal, the battery alone is probably worth $40." I was surprised.

The battery is only worth $20.

I did not buy the light because the run time is only 1.5 hours and it takes 30mins to charge. If your car repair takes longer than 1.5 hrs., then you are with out a light for 30 mins. In addition, I already have a corded 26w light so I passed on this deal.

Btw, it states on the box, will last 1.5 hour with battery fully charged. Not bad for a 12V light with 780 lumens.

Replacement tubes are craftsman tube PL-13 13 watt model #911212

Damn lucky. I was testing the floor model and it appeared to work and had a battery with it. Told the guy I would buy the floor model and he said sure. Unfortunately the guy was a grad A retard and did not know how to remove the security device and started trying to slip it through and pull the battery out by mistake. He goes on and explains that they could not give me the battery with it

Its ok though went to a local outlet store and picked up the last one they had.

Anybody that does any significant amount of work with cordless tools, knows to not start any job with just one battery on hand
