Niagara M&T Works Hand punch

Let me show you my new to me manual hand punch. Made by Niagara M &T WKS . Not much else about the model or year yet but if someone could help, that would be great. One picture shows a nice example of what happens when you use a tool beyond its capacity....You mess up the tooling, probably why the last owner sold it. I'm sure my friends at clevelandpunchdie will be able to help with that once I cut out this bent die that is now stuck in the head. Not a problem, just the fun of buying old tools and learning their history.

I like hand punches. I've got a nice Roper Whitney #5 with 7 different die/anvils from 3/32nds to 9/32nds. Can't punch steel thicker than 16 ga though. Looks like whoever damaged the Niagara was trying to go through something a lot thicker.

I have 3 Whitney punches and they do a great job in thin stock. Much easier than drilling.
You can still get new punches from Roper Whitney.

This is the Whitney punch I have. I use it all the time for punching sheet metal even though it's rated for 1/4 in 1/4. The looks of these old things are awesome. Even have and old Whitney #40 that's about 75#
