This set is better and more versatile for the same cost. Comes with a sturdy case also.

Thanks for sharing.

I'm looking for crimpers as of yesterday. I been poking around here and saw a few threads on crimpers. Can't decide on the ratcheting and non ratcheting. Liking the looks of the channel lock 909's?

What type of crimps? Molex? Insulated? Bare?

Insulated, need to do some crimping on some connections to my boat battery. Using some 16ga wire on some 3/8 and 5/16 ring terminals.

Klein 1005 or T & B WT111M. I run with Kleins professionally, crimping hundreds of ground makeups in residential recep boxes, and no issues or apparent wear. Keep a few drops of oil on them and they should last near forever.

The 909's are going to be the cheapest but are okay. Channellock pivots tend to get loose over time In my experience.

Ratcheting crimpers **** if you are doing all different gauges, ok for a factory setting where it's many of the same exact crimp

They ratchet to ensure the connection is crimped tight enough. All the professional crimper tools I have or have used were 1 or 2 gauge only. By professional I mean made by the crimp connection manufacturer specifically for their connectors...Thomas and Better, miles, etc. The multi die ratcheting tools should have the dies made to take into account the guage wire the die set is for to provide the same thing...ensuring the proper force is applied so the connector is properly crimped.
Sure they are harder to use but when the connection really matters you need the correct tool.

I have a T&B with about half that many dies and it gathers dust in my Cutters & Crimpers drawer. Like screwdriver bit sets--for occasional emergency use only. :headshake

I use my set a lot. Especially for specialty crimps when you desire the OEM look, such as molex type.

I should have expanded that the reason mine doesn't see much use is I prefer the dedicated crimpers over the interchangeable-die types. I don't like spending time swapping dies and don't like that the ultimate amount of crimp is "designed in" rather than adjustable and calibrateable like on the dedicated.
