The little ones that plug in the wall outlets so a person can see how to get to the bathroom in the middle of the night. I think they use a C7 lamp mini candelabra base ? ...

They give us fits as they don't last long and the sockets crack. Anyone making a plug in LED night light that lasts over a month ?

Ok i cant get you a pic at the moment but wal-mart has some that are just a ball like shape and rotates so you can shine it up or down. LED and $3 a pair. The ones we have have been on for almost two years.

I have good luck with the bulbs and night lights. If you are letting them run 24/7 you might consider a plug in medium base socket, and a 7 watt medium base bulb.

The bulb is much larger and runs alot cooler, and last longer. I have one next to the cat box and get 6 mos or more from it.

incandescent bulbs are getting expensive.

I bought a gfi outlet with a built in led for bathroom and a regular outlet with built in led in the hallway for the kids, they are like a 5 watt light, just enough to see where your at

I like these. Three LEDs in the bottom and have a photo cell so it is only on when needed.

That's weird. We have a couple of them and each of them has been working for well over a year. I don't understand why the ones you have don't last very long.

The best one I've got came as a freebie from the local power company.

It looks like a mini compact fluorescent bulb. It has their logo on it.

The guy demonstrating electricity had to talk me into taking it. Now I wish I had a couple more.

What do you do to them? We've had ours for nearly 11 years. Just cheap plastic Wal-marts.

My wife has elected to have three "in house" cats now. Long story, another day... :D

They play like maniacs at night while knocking over books, get behind the office desk and even unplug cables out of the equipment at times, etc.....

THinking on the short life issue, maybe the cats are banging these little "plug in" night lights with their bodies/tails, while playing and shortening their lamp filament life and socket life. I don't know as I am asleep during the "catathons".

And no, getting rid of the cats is not an option at this point. :)

Lots of good leads here, I'll check them out. thanks.

Greg.. those led candles make great night lights. Give off just enough light to see where you're going. Lasts a long time and are very inexpensive. And won't harm the cats if they're played with.

http://www.snappower.com/ Got these off a kickstarter -works like a charm and took about 20 seconds to install.

Have 5 scattered through the house.

Leaves all the outlet plugs open as well.

That is one of the neatest things I have seen lately.

Kinda spendy at $15 a pop singly (less when purchased in multiples). Showed it to my wife and she is good to go with it. We have WalMart photo-sensor units in both bathrooms and switched ones in our kitchen and each takes up one half of the receptacle.

If Mama ain't happy, no one is happy.

Thanks for the link.

I really like the ones junkman posted. We have green ones and blue ones. I prefer the green because they are just bright enough to see where you are going.

I think I could weld with the blue ones.

Ok, I have to ask...

Are those snaplights safe? I don't see any UL listing notes on their website. How is the electrical connection made? I see something that looks like it wraps around to make contact with the screws on the sides of the outlets.

Both UL & ULC (Canada) approved - they are pretty slick, that said I paid $40 for 5 of them delivered through the kickstarter.

We use the cheap ones like this from Wal-Mart. $3 for a 2-pack sounds about right.

LED-Nightlight.jpg

We use them everywhere from our hallway to our garage to our chicken coop to our litter box (wife wanted a covered litter box but the cats refused to use it until we gave them a light...) and they've worked well. They are LED so I wouldn't expect them to have issues burning out like an incandescent might.

I've got something similar to this. Its a decora sized 1w LED panel that goes in a box. I've got mine in a three gang near my garage door. 1 LED panel, light switch and double plug. At night its jist enough light to keep you from tripping over yourself. It even has a small photosensor.

LED nightlights are cheap, plentiful and helpful to have for just tucking in the corners of rooms. I put them in unused outlets in a shed. Very handy.

You can get LED bulbs to put into existing standard small socket nightlights as well inexpensively if you have a favorite you want to keep around.

I took the incandescent light for the in door ice/water dispenser and replaced it with a blue LED version. Lights up the space nicely at night and looks pretty darn cool and high tech. $4.

I have two of these that have been in for years (6+). One doesn't always get enough light during the day, so it does run almost 24/7. Couldn't be happier with them :)
