Nit picky chrome question

Dumb question about chrome sockets. Last year I ponied up and bought a 3/8 SK socket set. After about a year the chrome has developed wear spots and scratches even from sockets not used. Is that normal? I know sk advertises the best chrome in the business. I know its nitpicky. II just never spent that much on a socket set before and never took notice on other sets I've had...mostly husky or kobalt. Thanks for any replies.

are you talking about shelf wear from the sockets rolling around in a case or rubbing against each other? That's normal. If so, just use the sockets and the light scratching will be replaced with grime, grease, dings and dents from being dropped and used.

Or you could get some flitz semichrome polish and polish your unused sockets to a high mirror finish.

Yeah that's what I mean. I know my cheapo sockets are like that. I just didn't know BC these are pricey and I was paranoid. Thanks.

Normal. Tools, like most things, will scratch when bounced and rolled around.

Part of what I've learned about tools with good chrome- it's easier to see cosmetic defects and scratches because the chrome is so nice.

That is something I have never paid any attention to, tools wear from use like a tire goes balled when driving on them. Buy tools for durability that is the measure of a good tool.

I was talking about wear on tools just sitting in the case...not ones that are used.

It happens to all chrome tools. Even Snap on chrome wears.

Get a set of Hanson trays and stop using them that's what your HF sockets are for.
