The anvil sheared off today. I've been abusing it for years, as in removing truck tires where co-workers use the 1inch gun. So a replacement anvil is $40 (and that's not part of a rebuild kit). Opinion:

1) For $40 is it worth fixing? How long do these guns last you guys?

2) I can get a new 1200K for $130?

3) I can get the 1250K for $200?

TL,DR: How long has your Nitrocat lasted?

Only you can decide on that one. I'd look at the insides before I made that decision. Look at the hammer pins, the cam, the cylinder and cylinder end plate wear etc.

^Agree. I tore it down and have no clue how to judge what I'm looking at. Like if I knew the specs for the cylinder wall thingy then this would be easy. otherwise I'm just guessing.

thanks!

I just look for wear, is it still pretty smooth or is it all grooved out? Even when they are and the vanes are grooved to match they still make excellent torque, I I've seen them worn so bad it's unreal ,and the tool is still making good torque. Since the vanes move outward they're always against the walls. You can feel a ridge right at the open end on most impacts as well ,when they really get worn. Same on the end plate, is it worn where the rotor contacts it, or still looking good. It's really not worn much if the tool still had excellent torque, as I've always found this greatly affects torque output on pneumatic impacts. The hammer pins are cheap at under 4 bucks each, I would make those new if they're going to be going against a new anvil.

Thanks for taking the time to write that. Just what I needed to know. I'll take a good look at it tomorrow. It made excellent power so I'll likely just get the anvil and pins you mentioned. all I remember is the main bearing was noisy, but I googled it and its a conventional $4 bearing.

Again, thanks.
